Suddenly, I burst into laughter. My mother raised her eyebrows but didn't speak.
"Mom come on, guardian angel? You know those don't exist!" I said wiping the tears from my eyes.
"Ruby I'm completely serious." My mother said with a straight face. "Along with that, you are an angel."
My face went pale with shock. She was serious? And I'm also an angel?
"I thought angels were just a fairy tale, make-believe FICTION!" I shouted.
"Far far from it Ruby." Kate said. " Now let me explain where you come into the story. Hades, god of the underworld, has been taking innocent souls years before their time. Those souls were also pure, not a speck of hate or evil in their souls and were supposed to go to Zeus. Of course Zeus has to stay where he is to protect the ones in heaven and only a decendent of Zeus can stop Hades.' Kate said looking grimm. "And you Ruby, are Zeus' only living daughter. An essance of pureity, you Ruby, have to stop Hades and possibly even kill."
Ok first of all my so called "mom" is a guardian angel, then im an angel then a decendent of Zeus???!!! This was too freaky. Deep breath in, and out, in, and out.
"You were supposed to stay by Zeus' side but when Hades started taking souls, we knew something was wrong. We had to hide you on Earth, where not even Hades would look." Kate said looking extremely sorry.
"This is too much to take in." I said wiping a tear. My life is over. "What about Blaise? Melissa? Harper?" If anything happened to them I would be devastated.
"Melissa and Harper are half angels. They've known for a while. Blaise, well Blaise is human. Full human. I'm not sure if he can handle it. Just give it some time. Tomorrow maybe." Kate told me.
Wait. Melissa and Harper?? HALF ANGELS???? This was getting crazy. Then it hit me. Tomorrow was the planned picnic with Blaise. Our 6 month anniversary. What was I going to do?
"Tomorrow I'm having a picnic with Blaise!" I shouted with rage.
"Perfect tell him then." Kate said. Talk about no heart! "Or...." Kate started. "Or either me or your mother could tell him. I mean I am we are arc angels we're used to anger and confusion." She smirked.
I wanted to turn on my heels and march out of the room.
"Don't think about it." Said Kate suddenly.
Great she can read minds now too!
"Always have been able to Ruby. So has Dana." Kate explained.
"That explains a lot." I smiled, catching a glimpse of my mother. It didn't even seem right calling her that, but what else would I call her?
"You don't have to call me anything else for now Ruby. I don't think it's a good idea to tell Blaise. We don't want to cause confusion." Dana said.
"Hmmmm that seems right Dana. It's always better to take precautions. When the time is right you'll be able to tell him." Kate replied back to my mother.
Just great. He might think I'm acting suspicious. If he finds out what will he think? I don't want to seem dishonest but Kate and my mother will find out almost right after I tell him-I think- I'm not quite sure how it works with angels, much less arc angels.
Tomorrow was going to be one heck of a day. I knew that I would be ready for any crazy thing thrown my way. Unless it was insane, but after what happened, I doubt it.
