"Don't know, don't know if I can do this on my own
Why do you have to leave me?
It seems I'm losing something deep inside of me
Hold on onto me..." [Avril Lavigne:Everybody Hurts]
Tonight...I Hurt
Doctor Evans instructed one of the nurses to take Riley to her room and change her into some pajamas, and now as she sat there watching her. All she wanted to do was wrap her arms around Riley's tiny body and keep her safe. Doctor Evans had gotten many calls from relatives claiming to have rightful custody of Riley, but she was still undecided about what to do. She got the impression that Riley's relatives' concern wasn't about her well being, but for what having her in their custody could do for them.
The D' Marcos were a very well known family and their immense net-worth was no secret. With Riley being their only child, everything would be inherited by her. And in her current state, Doctor Evans feared that she might be taken advantage of. Riley's best interest would not be their priority and when they came, she knew Riley wouldn't be protected. This placed Doctor Evans in a very difficult position, because of her feelings towards Riley it would be hard to make and objective decision.
"Doctor Evans...did you call?" Anna asked, snapping her, the doctor, out of her daze.
"Oh yes...umm could you stay with her until I finish my rounds with the other children?" Doctor Evans inquired.
"Of course...I was actually just on my way to see how she was doing...she looks so peaceful." Anna states with a smile towards Riley's sleeping form.
"Yes she does...call me if she wakes up, okay?" Doctor Evans requests as she rose from the bed.
"Doctor Evans what are you going to do about them?" Anna asked hesitantly.
"We'll talk about that later, let's just make sure we get her past this," She replied and walked to the door; a sad smile crept on her face as she took one last glance back at Riley, then left the room, closed the door behind her.

Blake was in his room when he heard the piercing scream of a young girl; he was annoyed at first, but when he realized who the screams were coming from, his heart stopped for the smallest fraction of a second. Curiosity and fear got the best of him, so he got off his window seat and walked towards the door to see what could possibly be wrong with her. When he unlocked his door and looked down the hall he saw Riley on the black marble floor screaming for her mother. He assumed that her outburst was due to her mother leaving and not wanting to take her home; after closing his door, Blake walked back to the window and tried to block out her pain filled screams that riled his inner demon. As he fought to remain calm and not act on his thoughts; Blake fixed his gaze on a older boy outside his window, that was leaving the institute, returning to a world he knew no longer had a place for him.
About fifteen minutes later the screams finally subsided like he knew they eventually would. He used to go through the same thing every time his brother and sister would leave after a visit-well that was until they sudden stop visiting. At first, Doctor Evans would try and calm him; but when that didn't work, she would have him held down by three male nurses so she could have him sedated. It's been a while since he had one of those episodes, three years to be exact. Three years since anyone of his relatives had taken time to visit or even contacted him.
