"Why can't I be more like you and
Cut my heart out , say it's over and be done?
Why can't I leave like you left me?
Why can't I accept the fact that I am not the one?
Why do I think you'll come and save me from the pain you brung?
Am I just fooling myself?
There's nothing left , still I"

Tonight...I Awake
The night after Blake left was the worst night Riley had ever faced. She had nightmares of her parents blaming her for their deaths, which turned into a nightmare of all the kids in the institute surrounding her, pointing and laughing, and teasingly singing that Blake left just to get away from her. As the taunting became more harsh and violent, Riley began to scream and push her way out of the mass that formed around her. With each person that she pushed aside, an increasing amount popped up to keep her locked in. When she couldn't take anymore, her legs gave out and she crumbled to the floor, curled into a ball and covered her ears and screamed to block out the hateful taunts.
"Riley," a distant voice called out, "Honey, wake up," She felt hands shaking her body and tried to fight them off, thinking that they where the hands of her attackers. As the voice that was pleading for her to wake up became stronger, she realized that it was Doctor Evan; so with all her might, Riley tried to follow the direction of the voice. The voice seemed to bounce off the now dark shadows that settled around the students in an unnatural echo.
"Riley!" the voice called out franticly, "It's just a dream. Please try and wake up," Pleaded Doctor Evans.
As the pleas grew louder, the shadows drew closer and threatened to overtake her. She began to panic and soon lost the ability to breathe. When Doctor Evans saw her gasping for breath, she began to shake her harder with each passing second, until Riley snapped out of her nightmare.
"It's ok honey, you’re safe. I'm here and no one can hurt you now," Doctor Evans rubbed small circles on her back, as her small frame shook, whilst she tried to control her breathing, "Riley?"
'I'm...I'm ok," she stated softly, once she had calmed herself.
"I thought you said you didn't have nightmares anymore."
"I don't...I mean, they're not as bad anymore," she glances at Doctor Evans warily, and tucks some lose strands of hair behind her ear.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Doctor Evans asks.
"No, I just want to go back to bed."
"Okay. But once you’re awake and feeling a little better, I'd like you to come see me in the garden," Doctor Evans instructed, leaving no room for a discussion. Once Riley accepted with a slight nod, Doctor Evans fixed the covers and the pillows that had all fallen from the bed, and tucked her in, before leaving the room.
**********
The next morning when Riley woke up, her first thought was to go see what Blake wanted to do today. With a bright smile, she hopped off her bed, slipped on her pink fluffy slippers, and walk to his room; but as soon as her hand touched the knob on his door, memories of last night flooded her mind. Once again her heart felt like it had been stuck by hundreds of needles simultaneously.
