Chapter 7: Tonight...I Move On
"If you were a friend
You'd wanna get to know me again
If you were worth the while
You'd be happy to see me smile
I'm not expecting sorry
I'm too busy finding myself
I got this...I found me"
[Brand New Me: Alicia Keys]
~Riley~
"Why?" a petite brown haired girl yelled.
"YOU PROMISED ME... YOU PROMISED YOU WOULDN'T LEAVE!" she screamed then started running after the figure ahead of her.
"Sorry," a voice echoed around her, but the figure never stopped or looked back at her.
The brunette started to ran after the fading figure, but she could never seem to catch up to him. Each time she got closer the hallway would extend, increasing the gap between them.
"Blake!" she screamed before he went into the light, causing me to wake up.
It's been seven years since Blake left the Institute; I heard that he had started high school but he never called, or wrote to tell me how he was doing. At first I used to believe that he would come and visit, but after two years of passing birthdays and holidays, with still no word from him; I soon realized that he would never come back, and settled with the fact that he was just like everyone else in my life that left me alone.

"Mom!" I yelled from the top of the stairs. "I can't find my car keys; do you know where they are?" Peering down the stairs I listen attentively, waiting for her answer. When there was none, I walked down the stairs and went into the living room looking for her.
"Mom...where are you?" I yelled.
"In the kitchen," She replied.
"Oh," I sighed and walked into the kitchen. "Have you seen my car keys? I forgot where I put them last night," I explained from the doorway.
"They're on the mantel in the candy dish," Her voice informed from behind the refrigerator door.
"Thank you!" I sang, setting off to the living room for my keys.
"Riley!"
"I'm running late, what is it?" I sighed, knowing where this was going. Every time that I decided to come home for break my mom always brought up the same concerns she's been having since I started college three years ago.
"I'm going to be at the hospital late tonight and for the rest of the week, so I won't see you until Saturday morning," she informed me.
"Mom I'm going back to campus today."
"I really don't think that's the best idea...I thought we decided that you wouldn't spend so much time on campus this semester." She stated curtly.
"Mom we have been over this like a thousand times! I'm not going to spend the rest of my life living in fear, " I didn't mean to yell at her, and I felt bad before I even saw her pouted lip and her slightly glossed eyes. The last thing I want to do was hurt my mother, but I was twenty years old and I was more than capable of taking care of myself.
