Tonight...I Break

2 weeks after the incident, Blake and Riley developed an unspoken understanding. The nightly visits became habitual; they would spend the night talking until Riley couldn't stay awake any longer. She always tried to wait it out with Blake, but she never made it past midnight. Blake never did tell her about his past; it was something he always skillfully danced around.

Today, his siblings were coming to visit him again, and he just wanted to get it over with so that he could find Riley and take her to the garden they discovered behind the institute. It had become their special place and, though he'd never admit it, Blake was starting to enjoy having Riley around. He even looked forward to her little taps at his door at night when the nurses went to do their paper work. Riley loved to talk about what life would be like out of the institute, and even though Blake knew there was no such thing for him; he still humored her with his wishes.

Last night, Riley tried to get him to talk about his family when she heard about the visit; but he couldn't. She let it go without arguing like she was known to and he was happy for that. Now, as he sat in Doctor Evans office, he suddenly wished Riley was next to him so that he wouldn't feel so surrounded. Blake always hated when his sister came to visit; she always tried to hug and kiss him. He didn't mind his brother much, because at least he kept his distance-something Blake was thankful for.

His siblings sat on the sofa while he sat on the arm chair on the other side the room facing Doctor Evans' desk. So far the visit was different from the others; Doctor Evans was sitting at her desk completely silent, his sister was staring at him hopefully, and his brother was looking at a poster on the wall. Blake didn't like the way things were going and he was tempted to ask just what the hell was going on.

"Blake," Doctor Evans called, finally breaking the silence. "Starting today you're going to be living with your sister," Doctor Evans informed him, with a sad smile.

"Aren't you excited, Blake?" his sister Tracey asked.

'What the hell?' he thought, ignoring her and directing a dangerous glare at Doctor Evans.

"Blake...don't you have anything to say?" Tracey asked, sounding disappointed by his lack of response.

"What if I don't want to leave?" he asked staring at the door.

"What do you mean you don't want to?" Tracey asked sadly.

"I made a pro- I just don't want to. Isn't that enough?" he mumbled.

"Why wouldn't you want to come home?" Tracey asked confused.

"Maybe I just don't want to be around you people," He stated coldly glaring at Tracey.

Shock passed over Tracey's face as she stared at her younger brother. She knew that leaving him alone for so long would make him act out towards them, but she never thought she'd see hate in his eyes. The same hate Blake held against their mother.

"Well, all you have to do is sign a few documents and he's all yours," Doctor Evans stated in a professional tone to hide her sadness, as well as trying to break the tension. "Blake, you can go and get your things ready." She later instructed, after his sister signed all the required documents.

Blake never uttered a word of acknowledgement; he just left the office as requested and went to his room to pack.

"Will he be ok?" Tracey asked after he left.

"Yes I believe he will be...he really has come a long way," Doctor Evans said with a weak smile.

"Yes he has, I've seen as much...thanks to you." Tracey said gratefully.

Riley was standing outside of Blake's room when he got to his door; she knew that he was always a little cranky after a visit from his brother and sister, but today it was full blown anger.

"Hey, do you want to go the garden now?" she asked, but he walked right pass her.

"Hey...I'm talking to you!" she yelled and pulled his arm. The glare he directed at her was like nothing she had ever seen from him before.

"Let me go," he said coldly

"What's wrong...was it that bad?" Riley asked sadly.

"Just go," he demanded as her entered his room, walked to the closet, grabbed his duffel bag and began throwing his things inside.

"Are you going away for the weekend? That's great! You can tell me all me all about the outside world when you get back," she teased and tried to help him pack.

"Riley, stop!!" he yelled, putting the final pieces in his bag.

When he walked to the door, Doctor Evans and Tracey were waiting.

"Doctor Evans what's going on?" Riley asked curiously.

"He's leaving" Tracey answered happily "Starting today, Blake will be living with me," she added.

"Leaving?" Riley repeated in a shaky voice. "Did you know?" she turned to Blake and asked.

"Blake didn't-" Tracey tried to explain, but Blake cut her off.

"What does it matter?" he countered.

"Blake, if you're ready, then let's go, I really want to get on the highway before rush hour," Tracey babbled, unaware of the tension between Riley and Blake.

"So that's it...you're leaving...why?" Riley asked as her anger rose.

Blake turned his back to follow Tracey and whispered "Sorry," before Riley started yelling.

"YOU PROMISED ME...YOU PROMISED THAT YOU WOULDN'T LEAVE!" she yelled, no longer in control of her anger.

"Riley...he has no choice...please stop," Doctor Evans pleaded, she felt her pain and wanted nothing more than to stop the hurt but there was nothing she could do.

"YOU LIED! WHY...BLAKE YOU PROMISED!" Riley yelled, the pain was so much more than she could take; she knew he had no choice but he could have tried to do something, anything.

Blake wanted to go back and tell her how sorry he was, but he knew it would only make it worse. Riley needed a clean break, it was better that they parted now because the pain he would've caused her later would be worst.

"I HATE YOU!!" Riley screamed as the floodgates opened and she fell to the floor, followed by scolding hot tears that flowed down her pained face.

Those were the last words he heard from her as he stepped out of the institute and the doors closed behind him.

Riley ran to her room, shut her room and cried herself to sleep. She heard when Blake said he was sorry, but it really hurt that he didn't even fight to stay with her. She thought they were friends; she really wished this was just another bad dream that she would wake up from. Then, she would rush to his room and find him smirking as he opened the door. But, deep down she knew that Blake was really gone, and there was nothing she could do about it.

So what did you think?? I looking for honest opinions and constructive criticisms, do forget to vote if you enjoyed it :)
