By this time in Emily's pregnancy, she was about to pop any given day. Her due date was in a few weeks and her and Bentleigh were walking through a store in Port Angeles looking for things while Sam, Embry, and Paul were painting the nursery.
Whilst wandering around the store, Emily pointed out random accessories. But before Bentleigh could answer her, she would brush them off. The two of them had been there for a couple of hours before she picked some thing's she wanted for the baby's room.
Once they bought everything, they had someone help them load the items into the truck and left the shopping centre. Pulling out of the parking lot, Bentleigh drove the hour and a half back to Sam and Emily's. But before they fully left Port Angeles, Bentleigh stopped by an ice cream parlor. Allowing Emily to go get whatever she wanted, Bentleigh's treat.
As Emily got out of the truck and walked inside, Bentleigh's phone went off with someone calling her. Picking up her cell phone from the center console, she sees her contact photo of Seth pop up on the screen. Clicking the 'answer' button Bentleigh brought the phone up to her ear.
"Hello beautiful, how's the shopping going?" He says into the speaker.
"Great, we're stopping so she can get some ice cream then were on our way home. I should be back at the house in a couple hours. Or you could meet me at Sam and Em's place?" She hinted making him laugh.
"The second choice sounds good to me. I'll see you at Emily's," He says happily. "Do you want to do something later on? Like get out and away from the house?" He questions.
"What do you have in mind?" Bentleigh asks.
"The council is having a meeting at the beach and the pack is supposed to be there, we could go to the cliff or walk around the beach while they discuss whatever they're going to." He suggested making her smile.
"Sounds good. See you when we get to Em's."
"Alright." He says with a quick 'love you' before hanging up.
Bentleigh smiled putting her phone back into the console and smiled at the bottom of the steering wheel. Emily got into the truck carrying three bags of nothing but ice cream. She looked at Bentleigh and a smile grew across her face as she realized Bentleigh's reason to be so happy while she sat in the car by herself.
"I see you don't need me to make you happy while we're having a girls day. All you need is a call from the kid and you smile like a damn idiot," Emily laughed at Bentleigh as the younger girl looked over at her. "It's good to see you so happy, Leigh. Especially with all the bullshit lately."
"It all feels weird, though. It's like, it was just yesterday we met at that bonfire. But before all of that even. Before he phased. Before I phased. I thought there was something different about him but I could never get the nerve to talk to him. But I felt, drawn, to him in a way. Now it all makes sense. Why I went from not knowing the kid and acting like he didn't exist for the sake of my shyness to loving everything about him in a matter of months." Bentleigh explains making Emily's smile widen.
Emily looked as if she was going to cry at any second. Bentleigh gave her a questioning expression silently asking if the woman was okay. All she did was wave it off. "Sorry it's the hormones." Emily says making the both of them laugh.
When they got back to Emily's place, Sam and the rest group met them outside. Sam wrapped his arms around Emily, careful of her very large baby bump. As Bentleigh got out of the truck and walked to the bed of the truck, popping it open as a pair of arms wrapped around her. She grabbed a few bags of things she and Emily had gotten from the store. Smiling to herself as she straightened in his grip, he placed a soft kiss to her bare shoulder. Bentleigh smiled as she turned around facing him.
"Hello, beautiful. How was your trip?" Seth asked with a wide smile.
"It was good. We got lots of things for the baby, a bunch of really adorable things." Bentleigh said with a smile of her own.
"That's good to hear," He beamed. "Come on let's get this stuff inside. It's supposed to start storming soon." Seth said just as lightening struck the ground somewhere and thunder boomed off in the distance.
