TWENTY-FIVE

Pulling into a driveway, Bentleigh watched as Jake walked out of the house with a smile on his face. Getting out of the car she greeted Jake with a hug. When they pulled away from one another, Seth and Jake 'bro hugged'. Bentleigh noticed she could smell them from here. But it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be.

The three of them wandered inside and upstairs where they were met by a lot of people who had bronze colored eyes. They were all beautiful. Of course in their own ways. Seeing Bella in the group of people, Bentleigh waved to her which she returned with a smile. Before she could react she was pulled into a tight hug by a short dark haired girl. She pulled away from Bentleigh with a wide smile.

"Sorry, I'm Alice." She replied cheerfully. Bentleigh smiled at her but before she could say anything Renesmee crashing into her, wrapping her in a tight hug,

"Bentleigh! You're here!" Renesmee exclaimed happily, causing everyone to laugh.

"Hey Ness, how have you been?" She questioned the younger girl.

"Great now!" She pulled away. "Sorry, Aunt Alice," Renesmee said looking to Alice.

"No problem kiddo," Alice winked at her niece.

Bella walked up with a guy next to her. He must be Edward Bentleigh thought seeing as she'd never met him before. She smiled as Bella grabbed Ness by the shoulders trying to calm her child.

The guy behind Bella and Ness stuck out a hand to her which Bentleigh shook. "You're right." Was all he said.

She looked at him confused as a tall guy with dark hair and a girl with pretty golden blonde hair. He smiled at Bentleigh while the girl kept a straight face.

"I'm Emmett, this is Rosalie." He says as he pointed to the girl.

"Hi," she replied.

Alice walked over again with a guy trailing behind her, he was tall and had curly dirty blond hair, "This is Jasper. He's a little bit shy." Alice says as he stuck out his hand.

"It's nice to meet you." He replied, a thick Southern accent present in his voice.

"You as well." Bentleigh nodded to him shaking his hand in the process.

Ness walked back over dragging the last two over to Bentleigh. They both smiled and seemed really friendly enough. She  returned the smile and the woman pulled her into a tight hug.

"It's lovely to meet you. I'm their mother figure, Esme. This is Carlisle." She says after pulling away. Bentleigh shook Carlisle's hand.

From the corner of her eye, she could see Jacob's jaw drop slightly at something. When she was left standing next to just Seth, Jake walked over to the both of them. He nudged his head towards the back of the house. She shared a confused expression with Seth who only shrugged.

Seth grabbed her hand leading her through the house after Jake. Walking out the back door, they stopped outside on the back porch. The three of them sat on the stairs and Jacob look at the younger two.

"I'm the only one who's noticed this." He says making them give him another confused look.

"What are you on about Jake?" Seth questioned his friend.

"Her hand, Seth. I'm talking about the thing on her hand." Jacob says as he pointed to her hand where the silver band sat. "I take it that you haven't been back to your house yet? Because if and when Embry finds out he'll start flipping shit."

Bentleigh pulled her hand into her stomach, hiding it from the world. She looked at the ground in front of her. She didn't believe Embry would do what Jacob says he thinks he'll do. If he does anything like that she's positive Nova will put him in his place.

Hopefully, Embry would see that she's happy and won't question anything. That he would be happy for her. Either way they wouldn't leave each other. That wasn't how any of this worked. It's basically like getting married. Their through thick and thin. Whether or not they fight with one another isn't going to determine the fate of the couple. Besides its not like they're actually getting married right now. It's just a promise ring.

Embry would know, before he phased he had one girlfriend, Morgan. If it wasn't for his change they would probably still be together. They had been together for almost five years. When he ended it with her, Bentleigh's sure it broke the both of them.

She felt terrible but there wasn't anything she could do about it. She saw her everyday at school. Tried talking to her after it happened and she would run off crying every time. Not understanding if Bentleigh did anything in the process, she left her alone.

Weeks passed and she got a text from Morgan. She apologized saying Bentleigh was a constant reminder of Embry. Later that year, she moved to North Carolina and they haven't talked since. Embry said he was sorry that she had lost a close friend because of their breakup.

Sure, Bentleigh wasn't pleased with her older brother at the time, but she completely understands where he was coming from now a days. There was something he couldn't let her find out. And with the temper he used to have, he could've really hurt Morgan if he had snapped.

Bentleigh on the other hand, Seth is the first person she had really, truly been with. Sure she had had three boyfriends before. But they all cheated on her, hit her, and left her with her brother and best friends broken when it was over.

That's one reason Embry is as strict and overprotective like he is. Thinking back to her last 'boyfriend', when he hit Bentleigh the one time, she ended the relationship for her safety. When Embry saw the mark that he had left on the side of Bentleigh's face, he freaked out. She got to watch him leave the house and not come back for a while.

After about an hour or so, he was brought home in a Forks police car. Still to this day, Bentleigh hasn't gotten the actual truth about that night from Embry. And every time she questions him about it, he shuts her down and changes the subject.
