They all sat there, quietly talking amongst themselves as Bentleigh slept. After making sure she was completely asleep, Embry spoke up glaring at Seth ever so slightly. "I'm going to accept the imprint bond between you two. But if you do one little thing to hurt her, I will kill you without a second thought. Understand?"

He nodded looking down at the girl in his lap. "You know I couldn't do anything to hurt her. It'd kill me if I did that." Seth replied. Sam walked in telling Embry to go run patrol with him.

"I'm going to let you in on a little secret," Quil says causing Seth look over at him. "He knows you're not gonna hurt her. He's just being the overprotective brother/father role." Quil responds.

"Why do you say that?" He asked furrowing his brows together out of confusion.

"Their father left years ago. Their mother leaves off and on." He paused shortly as Seth let his gaze drop to his lap again to Bentleigh. "It messed them up. Bad enough, Embry asked my grandpa to keep her with us since she's been my best friend since diapers." He adds.

"It's hard to believe, she's so happy when I see her. He acts like he is only happy around her." Seth say to Quil.

"He's happy at how well she's doing. He pulled her out of school when Sue pulled you out. She's adjusted well and is doing better. She has graduated early, has a lot protective brothers, a sister who'd kill for her, and you who will protect her." What he said made sense and helped me understand both, Embry and Bentleigh a little bit more.

Hours later, Seth's eyes opened slowly, seeing the room was dark with the moon light being the only type of lighting in the room. He let his gaze drop down to Bentleigh, taking in her features. Her skin was beautifully tan, her naturally long eyelashes touched the top of her cheek bones, he noticed she crinkles her nose and has a light smile on her lips as she sleeps. Laughing quietly to himself, he could see her smile slightly as her eyes fluttered open.

"Hi." She whispered, her smile widening.

"Hi." He responded smiling back at her.

"What time is it?" Bentleigh asks as he looked behind him at the clock on the wall.

"2:18." He laid his head back down.

"In the morning?" She asks making Seth laugh lightly. "I'm gonna check on Nova. See if she needs anything. Be back." She gets up walking away.

Seth laid there just looking up at the ceiling, closing my eyes and listening for Bentleigh to return. After a while, he stood up and walked through the small hallway to the stairs and making his way up them. Walking towards the bathroom, he heard the two talking quietly. He leaned against the wall opposite from the door.

"Sorry I didn't tell you." He heard Nova say. "Trust me, it took all I had to call you and ask you for your help because you know I hate asking for help from someone." He could imagine Bentleigh just sitting there shaking her head at her friend.

"You know I'd help you with anything even if it means going to California. Hell, I'd go across the world to help you. Tomorrow we're going to look at houses and find one we like we're going to move into it so we can get away for a bit even though I'm pretty sure that's never going to happen." Bentleigh chuckles lightly.

"We can do what we wanted to do before I left." Nova laughed.

After that he walked back downstairs and to the couch sitting there with his elbows resting on his knees. He sat there thinking about everything under the sun on what could've happened if he hadn't gotten to Bentleigh the night Embry attacked her. What would've happened if they didn't get to her friend Nova in time?
