The light showed brightly through the curtains as Bentleigh tried to stretch, only to kick something laying across the end of the bed. Sitting up she could see Embry, laying on at the end of her feet. Bending over, she shook him awake. "Emmy, wake up. I gotta get dressed. Can't get ready until you leave." She says as he barely opened his eyes.
"I don't wanna get up though." He says with a groan, setting up reluctantly, getting off her bed.
"Couldn't find you when I got there. Where did you go?" She questioned standing up and getting a change of clothes. She went to her bathroom, closing the door behind her.
"We've gotta talk about some things." He says almost inaudible.
"Okay, what is it?" She asks walking out of the bathroom tossing her dirty clothes into the hamper.
"Let's go outside and we'll talk." He says walking out of the room stopping at the back door when she called him. He hummed a response as he turned around.
"How long was I out?" She questioned now standing right beside him.
"Four days." He had nothing but a pain in his voice. She nods slowly making her way outside passing her shoes on the way out. Outside she found Seth, Quil, Paul, and Jared.
"What's going on boys?" She gave them confused glances sitting atop of the picnic table that was sitting behind the house.
"We've gotta tell you something, and I'm not really sure how you're going to take it." Embry says before walking behind a tree. Looking over at Paul, Jared, and Quil they smiled sadly at her. Looking back to where Embry was to see a wolf standing in his place.
Realizing that it's the same one that attacked her, she felt tears brimming her eyes. Bentleigh stood up and made her way to the wolf. Taking a closer look at it, its eyes turn from golden to a dark brown that she grew up with. Her own brother. Had attacked her. Looking over at the other four as a single tear fell down her cheek.
"Which one," she paused trying to find her voice once again.
Seth hung his head as he walked behind the trees like Embry. Yet again another wolf returned. It's coat a sandy light brown with black mixed in it. Its eyes, hazel in color.
"The legends about the wolves? The Cold Ones? They're real?" She asked. The two wolves dropped their heads in shame. "Am I going to do this too?" She asked the other boys who nod.
"There's a big possibility you might," Quil says.
"I gotta go." She ran in the house back to her room. Closing the door, she locked it, sliding down the door crying silently into her knees. A soft knock was placed on her door and Quil's voice sounded through the wood.
"Leigh, let me in." He says and she sat there and crying a little harder, sniffling as she was trying to contain herself.
"I know your crying. Open the door, Leigh." Quil asked keeping his voice low. Unlocking the door she goes over to her bed. Quil and Jared walk in closing the door behind them. Jared was holding a first-aid kit.
"I need to re-bandage your legs." He says. He sat beside Bentleigh on one side as Quil sat on the other side of her. She leaned against Quil and he wrapped an arm around her.
"I can do that." She chuckled. Jared took off the bandages. The gashes looked bad, they'll probably scar even if she were to phase.
"Don't worry, it won't be bad. You'll get the hang of it." Jared says. He looked up at her from wrapping the gauze around her leg. Glancing at him and Quil confused, Jared smiled letting out a soft chuckle.
