Chapter 4: Diners and Dinner
Scott told us to met him at Aunt Sally's a small diner that the jocks hung out at, yes believe it or not we actually had a place like this. I was stunned at first to find out, I only thought it happned in books, then again I used to think that mud pies were edible until the age of 12, don't judge I was a stupid kid. My mom knew Sally ,well used to, she passed away ages ago, not to be mean but at the funeral it smelt like french fries and burgers.
It was pretty awkward walking in the red booths and 50's diner set up still hadn't changed, I remember going here as a kid with the Winters family, we barely ever hung out with them now, for other reasons. Summer had actually ditched us sending us a text that she was really busy, I knew she didn't wanted to embarass herself in front of Adrian her massive crush since grade 5. Amy and I slid into the booth, I wondered how many people were coming because we could fit three on each side, I'm clearly an expert in math. I heard a lot of chatter as the door opened which probably was the group. Scott, Adrian,Theo and of course Isaac stood in front of table, Theo sat across from Amy near the window seat, she was not impressed. Adrian joined Theo, did I mention they were brothers? Would Scott sit beside me, I wanted him to, otherwise- Isaac slid into the seat beside me.
"Sorry Scott, the seat across is free." Isaac smirked, I wanted to smash the ketchup bottle multiple times across the head. I couldn't believe he'd sit right beisde me.
"Oh yeah sure," Scott smiled kindly, as if Isaac was gracious or something, "April, what did you think of the game?"Scott asked
"Oh I-" I began, but was interupted by Isaac "You were at the game?"
"Yeah, so what." I glared at Isaac mentally warning him if he scootched any more closer he would find himself sitting on the ground.
"You never come, why now?" Isaac asked
"Someone invited me and I didn't want to be rude."
"Scott?"
"Does it matter who it is?" I felt all of the groups eyes on Isaac and I, great we had to start an arugment right now.
"If anyone else on the team asked you,you would say no." Isaac did prove a good point but I couldn't let him have the last words.
"Actually I'd say yes to anyone else but you." I smirked
"Okay does anyone want food?" Theo said breaking the tension, remind me to thank Theo for not letting Isaac say another word or this conversation/argument would never end. I ordered the same as everyone else a burger, fries and milkshake, strawberry milkshake, everyone thought I super gross for getting strawberry. Scott started to talk about the game, Amy got into it after all she has 3 brother so she knows her stuff. Isaac kept on giving me weird looks, probably because I was trying to occupy myself by pouring sugar into small piles on the table.
"So did you like it?" Isaac asked
"What?"
"The football game?"
"Oh I guess....." I trailed off, what was supposed to say, if I said I loved it they might expect me to name off some type of move and if I say I hated it they would bombarded me with questions.
"You guess what?" Scott asked, he raised his eyebrow curiously.
" It was alright, I mean I don't know anything about football but every player was really good, well except one he was a bit awful." I smiled
"That could be Jake, he broke his wrist a month ago and just got back to playing." Scott reasoned, trust Scott to never want to bash on his teammates.
