THE (FINALLY) HAPPY LIFE OF EL BYERS-HOPPER
CHAPTER FIVE: JONATHAN BYERS

-----------------

Jonathan Byers, her other adoptive brother, got her into the best kind of music. The Clash. Jonathan had made a mix-tape for her, introducing her to the family and the music.

31st October - 1st November 1984

When Jonathan finally saw El after she disappeared, was the next day. As Jonathan watched from the kitchen door, as the little girl let out little snores (which were nothing in comparison to Dustin) and the boy she's had wrapped around her little finger for a long time - Mike Wheeler.

Jonathan smiled, and walked back to the kitchen and started frying bacon as well as Eggos in the toaster.

Then when the final piece of bacon came out of the frying pan, the boys walked in with El. Jonathan smiled when he saw Mike's hand holding El's as if she would disappear again.

17th August 1988

Jonathan got out of his car, his 4 years at University finished. He had a well-worn hoodie with his (old) University logo on that he's had since the first day.

The first person that jumps into his arms after exiting the car, is his mom - Joyce Hopper. She tightly wrapped her arms around him and started softly crying into his hoodie. Jonathan had missed his mom, so much I've the time he'd been at university.

The next person was his step-dad (but more of a dad than his birth father) Jim Hopper. Jim brought his stepson into a manly hug, before bringing him closer - thankful to have him home after so long.

Will was next, staring up at his older brother with wide eyes that held tears. All Jonathan had to do was hold his arms out of Will, and the young man fell into them and cried. He'd cried a lot more since arriving back from the Upside Down. Will had listened to the mix-tapes Jonathan made him, whilst he'd been gone.

Next was his youngest step-brother, innocent Jake. Who attempted to climb the tower that was his oldest brother. Jonathan smiled down at him and lifted Jake to rest on his somewhat hip. Jake gripped the back of his brother's t-shirt and sucked his thumb as he nuzzled closer to the warmth of his missing brother.

Finally, was his step-sister El Byers-Hopper. She jumped into his arms, stood tall and happy for him to be home. Tears flooded Jonathan's t-shirt as the young woman started to cry, much like her step-mother.
