Your best friend Chen squeaked his car to a halt and parked it by the side of a dirt road. He jumped out and ran to the other side to open the door for you. After you stepped out, he slammed the door shut with his foot and dragged you down the road with the speed of light.

Within minutes, you two have dashed through a small forest, crossed a river, and arrived at a beautiful meadow. You took huge gulps of air and coughed like crazy due to the run.

'Are you trying to kill me, Chen?!' You scolded him.

Although he was quite out of breath, too, his eyes glistened in the afternoon sunlight and laughed his adorable laugh.

'Haha of course not, ____!' He pointed his index finger behind you and cracked a small smile.

You turned around and gasped while you covered your mouth with your hands because the most beautiful meadow was before your eyes. The grass was green and lush while tulips and daffodils dotted the scenery. They swayed to and fro like graceful ballerinas in the soft breeze.

Couldn't control your excitement, you skipped to the midst of the meadow and twirled, letting your dress fly out and the breeze blow through your hair. You inhaled deeply and the scent of the lovely flowers filled your nostrils. As the afternoon sun shined down on you, you bent down and picked a red tulip. Waving it to Chen, you smiled and beckoned him to come.

'DO YOU LIKE IT?!' He shouted with his hands cupped around his mouth.

'I LOVE IT!' You answered back the same way.

Chen started to jog towards you, and you handed him the tulip.

'This is great, Chen,' you told him as he smelled the little red flower.

'Hey, you know____? You looked quite beautiful twirling in that dress if yours just now,' Chen said and winked at you. You know he must be joking since he's your best friend and you laugh a little 'Yeah right!' You joked.

Chen suddenly took a lock of your hair and tucked it behind your ear. Sticking the tulip in your hair, he looked you in the eyes and whispered

'Really. Like an elegant princess on a summer day...' He trailed off and looked towards the setting sun.

You were blushing a bit and glanced at his face. The sun casted dark shadows across his face and his Adam's apple stood out. His hands were in his pockets and his eyes squinted to see the sun. 'He looks like an angel' you thought secretly to yourself.

Chen, turning around too suddenly, caught you staring at him so you averted your eyes. He laughed again and leaned in close to your ear.

'You know what today is?' He whispered.

You were quite confused at first, but then you jolted as you remembered.

'Oh my! It's your birthday today isn't it?!?! Oh my gracious! I'm so sorry!! I forgot! Wait how could I?! I don't even have a pre-' You were cut off as Chen put his hands on your shoulders.

'Caaaaalm down, _____! Here, why don't you close your eyes for a minute.' Chen told you. A breeze suddenly passed, and his eyes twinkled as his mysterious smile appeared on his lips again.

Having not a clue what he was planning, you did what you were told and closed your eyes.

Quicker than a flash, he placed his lips on yours and you could feel the smile that was still on there. You were surprised at first, but you kissed him back eventually.

When you pulled away, you couldn't help it as your fingertips flew towards your lips and slightly touched them. Chen laughed at your gesture, and you playfully hit his arm.

'All right now, girlfriend. So what do you want to do next?' He asked you putting an arm around your shoulder.

You shoved it off and said 'Who in the world said I was your girlfriend?!' You asked as your face became a tomato. You couldn't help but laugh afterwards and Chen joined in.

Chen looked at your face all of a sudden and lightly pecked your cheek.

'You,_____, are the best thing that has happened to me. You truly are the best present I can ever ask for. You're as beautiful as the meadow and as charming as the sunset.' He said, gazing at you with seriousness.

You have no idea why but tears rolled down your cheeks and you covered your mouth with your hand. You thought crying was silly so you turned away, but Chen turned you back around and wiped the tears away gently.

The smile on his and your face was worth more than gold, and no words were needed to express each others feelings. By staring into each others eyes and reading the meaning behind them, you guys already knew...

For the rest of the time, you and Chen sat together in silence on the peaceful meadow with his arm around you. Leaning your head against his shoulder, you whispered him a 'Happy Birthday, troll!', and he smiled into your hair.

Then without a care in this world, you guys watched the miraculous golden sun set on Chen's birthday...
