"Our highest scoring student is ______. Again," the teacher beamed at you as he handed back your test.
You quickly retrieved it and headed back to your desk.
"Rachel. Marco," the teacher continued, "Amberly, Hector..."
It wasn't a surprise that you scored the highest. You always did. In a high school like this, everyone around was either showing off the new purse they bought, talking about the new hot couple, or wearing the new trend of fashion. You had no one to talk to, but you had your books. You would study nonstop and read all day long. What else could you do? You had no life because you didn't fit in with your plain T-Shirts and shorts. Your mother owns two shopping centers and your father was a lawyer, always busy with what they had to do. You didn't trust anyone because the next thing would be betrayal. And you ended up being the Einstein of Cimarron High but also the awkward turtle that everyone avoided.
The teacher started the next lesson as you stared out a window. It was interesting to see what you could find. Today, a bird was hopping around the sidewalk then flew up towards a power line. After a while the bird flew back down on the sidewalk and pecked at the ground. It started to hop in circles again. "Interesting," you said softly. You spent the rest of the time focusing on the bird.
When the bell rang, the students rushed out as you took your time gathering up your homework and textbook. You were tucking your papers in your backpack when a test was shoved in your face. You looked up to see Sehun.
"Good job. You only missed one," you told him.
"You still did better," he said bitterly as he raced out, throwing the test in the trash. He had asked you to tutor him once or twice everyday since three weeks ago. You wondered why for you knew Sehun was one of the main topics of this school. If he was going to make you his next target, it wasn't going to be pretty.
"Sorry. I have something to do tonight." Or "I'm studying with someone else." was usually your reply to him. He had given up eventually, but he took you as a competition. Maybe he thought that beating you at a test would make you feel down. Who knows...
You saw Sehun walk towards you at the lunch table.
"You can tutor me at lunch. I'm finished with my food. You're done, too."
You looked at your food which was only 1/4 finished.
"What are y-" you didn't finish your sentence because Sehun threw your plate in the trash.
"Are you kidding me?!" You stared at him while he sat down casually.
"Sit," he said, pulling you down. You scoffed as you landed with a thump on your bottom. He pulled out his papers and a pencil.
"Oh Sehun! Stop! You just threw my lunch away. I don't care if you're the Prince Charming of Cimarron High School! I'm at lunch and you're not going to invade my privacy," you jabbed his chest with a finger and gathered your stuff up.
"If you don't sit down and teach me how to do this math problem right now, that table and that table will also get their lunches thrown away. It will probably raise a fight and I'm going to say you're the one to blame. Who doesn't believe me?" Sehun held on to your wrist.
You cursed at him while you sat down and taught him how to solve the equation. To your surprise, he actually listened intensively and noted the formulas. As lunch ended, Sehun shoved his papers in his backpack.
"Same place. Same time. Tomorrow." He gave you a smile and ran to his next class.
Finally as school was let out, you walked out the school doors and headed towards the parking lot.
"_______!"
You turned around to see Taeyeon. And her gang.... What happened again?
"Hanging out with Oh Sehun, huh? My boy, NOT yours. Get close to him again and I'll twist that neck of yours and break. Every. Single. blood vessel your body is composed of," Taeyeon cooed. She was now tucking a lock of hair behind your ear. You were surprised she knew what a blood vessel was.
"Sehun was bothering ME. Get your facts straight before coming to me," you said as you walked towards your car.
"You DID NOT just talk back to me," Taeyeon snapped.
"I did."
The next thing you knew, someone from her gang had spew juice on your shirt. Taeyeon laughed as she high fived that girl.
"If you told me you were gonna do that, I wouldn't have worn a white shirt!" You rolled your eyes and walked off.
"B**** who do you think you are?!" Taeyeon shoved you towards the ground while the others circled around you. You started to worry. They had so many...
"I'm sure Sehun will love it if you were blue and purple and limped like a dog. Oh wait, I forgot, you ARE a dog," Taeyeon watched as the others started to kick you. One got you good in the ribs and you screamed out in pain. Another stepped on your hand. Okay, this is going to far. You tried to get up, but they shoved you down again. Pain shot through your body and you couldn't do anything about it.
"Move!" You heard a voice call. You saw Sehun push the girls out of the way. He picked you up and carried you in his arms. Some of your blood rubbed on his shirt, but he didn't seem to mind.
He carried you all the way to his car and helped you in. Then, Sehun climbed into the drivers seat and started driving.
"I thought you were smart. You're more stupider than a first grader."
You laughed weakly as you wiped some blood off your mouth. "It's stupider. More stupider is not proper grammar."
He took a look at you and knitted his eyebrows. "Okay. Okay. Just stop talking. You can barely breathe. Rest for a bit while I get you to a hospital."
You smiled as you looked at Oh Sehun concentrating on the road. Maybe he wasn't that big of a jerk. You haven't had a friend in a long time. Realizing that you just made a new one, you closed your eyes and leaned back to relax cause it felt nice.
"Oh Sehun?"
"What? I told you to rest!"
"Thank you."
