I dialed Jennifer's number and waited. No answer. This was the second time I called. I decided not to call again, she was probably busy. I felt weird being in Scott'a house when he wasn't there so I get my phone and step outside. I could call Kit. Would he even answer?
No answer from him either. I decide to walk around the pack territory. It can't be that dangerous in broad daylight with people around right?
I walk toward the small town area, maybe there's a store or something to keep me occupied for the day.
I spend the day shopping and eating in the small cafe. I probably had about 4 pastries already and felt sluggish from eating so much. I head home to watch a movie and take a nap.I was halfway through The Little Mermaid and almost asleep when my someone knocked on my front door, sounding like they were in a hurry. I groaned and slid off the bed, bringing the tv remote with me as a weapon. Just in case, though I doubt it would do much damage.
I made it to the door and swung it open quickly and stepped back ready to defend myself if necessary. Standing on my porch is an out of breath Scott, who was soaked from the rain I hadn't even noticed.
He just steps into the house and closes the door behind him. "I don't want to wait, I want you to be my mate." He says. He strides toward me quickly and wraps me into his arms. He kisses me desperately. When I get the chance to pull away and breathe I question his sudden change of heart.
"What made you change your mind?" He laughs and shakes his head a little, making water fly onto the floor. "All day I kept thinking about how Ariel died before I marked her. And that was my fault because I wanted to wait. I can't make the same mistake with you. I won't."
I nod and hold onto his arm. I'm ready for this. "Do it." I say. He pulls me close and starts breathing on my neck. "It's going to hurt." That's all he says and then a pain like I've never felt burns on my neck. It feels like someone stuck a hot coal on my neck and left it there.
Scott pulls away from me as I scream out and feel my legs go weak. He grabs me close again to hold me up, when his hands grab onto my arms the pain fades a little bit. "The pain will go away soon." He says and cradles me into his arms. The feel of his skin against mine tingles, like nothing I've ever felt.
"You smell more like me." Scott says and I look up at him to see him grinning. When I see him smiling the way I felt about him seems to multiple by a hundred. Scott lifts me up to place me on the couch. He sets me down and the pain comes back slightly when he lets go.
Out of nowhere I feel like I'm going to fall asleep. "Sleep off the pain. I'll be here when you wake up." Scott sits in a chair across the room and I feel my eyes closing as I drift off.I wake up to the sound of rain lightly hitting the roof. Looking out the window I notice that it's almost night time. I don't see Scott but I just have this feeling that he's still here. I sit up on the couch and as soon as I do Scott enters the room from the kitchen. "I cooked if you don't mind." He says.
"I definitely don't mind. You can cook for me anytime you want." I say. He smiles and I follow him into the kitchen. Waiting for me at the table is a plate of grilled chicken and Mac and cheese. Everything looked so good and I dug in like a starving person.
I caught Scott eyeing me, I assumed for eating like a pig. "Sorry." I mumbled trying to chew my food. He just gives a light laugh, "I'm admiring my handiwork. The mark, that is." I had almost forgotten. I dashed up off my chair to look in the mirror.
Just above my collar bone was a mark that looked like a tattoo. It was a simple crescent moon with two stars beside it. "It's beautiful", I breathe. It's mostly covered by my t-shirt but it's still beautiful.
I walk back into the kitchen to sit by Scott. "I'm glad you changed your mind. And trust me I understand what it means to be your mate. The responsibility of a Luna, I asked Jennifer about it when she mentioned it." After I say this Scott just smiles and kisses me on the nose.
He opens his mouth to say something but then he stops and his smile fades into a sort of scowl. I'm overcome with this strange feeling, and it's not a very good feeling. "What's going on?" Scott just holds up a hand and stares at the floor. He must be getting a mind link from someone.
His eyes go back into focus on my face and I can tell whatever news he got it wasn't good. He stands and starts pacing the floor. "Scott?" I stand up slowly and reach out to him.
He yells and slams his hands down on the kitchen counter. The surface of them slightly cracks. I jump a little and stand back. "I'm sorry." Scott reaches for me, "I didn't mean to scare you." I pleas to him with my eyes and I know he understands that I'm confused.
"Annie. It's kit. He's going to try to turn himself in to Alexander."
