I sat on the porch stairs of Kit's house and watched the rain fall. Alexander wants me as a mate. Either it hasn't hit me yet or I'm reacting better than I expected myself to. Perhaps the rain is calming me down. I hear the soft squeal of the door and look back as Kit sits beside me.
We sit in silence until he sighs deeply and rests his head in his hands. I lean my head against his shoulder in comfort. "Why did you tell Scott to stay away from me?" I ask, breaking the silence.
Kit exhales slowly, and the movement makes my head sink lower against his shoulder. "Annie, when Scott's mate died he lost his temper. He's had problems with violence and staying calm. I didn't want him to get mad at you and lose control." I suppose that makes sense.
"But why, Kit? Why do you care so much?" I question. He laughs lightly which causes me to glance at him with furrowed eyebrows. "Annie, I swear sometimes you just don't see what's right in front of you", he smiles at me. "What does that mean?" I ask, only to be answered with a mischievous grin.
"Oh, Annie." Kit shakes his head in mock disappointment which causes me to roll my eyes. "Lets get your mind off all this, I know just the place to go." Kit pulls me off my feet before I can reject the offer. Rather than heading towards his car he starts walking towards the woods. I follow.
I open my mouth to ask where we're going but before I can Kit shifts into a wolf. His fur is a dark brown, and it looks so soft I want to pet it but that would make things sorta awkward I think. He turns to look back at me with the same green eyes he's always had. "So... now what?" I ask. He jerks his head kind of behind him. "I don't understand." I say. He walks towards me and I realize how tall he is now, he stands with his chin about a foot above my head.
Kit leans down beside me and makes a low noise from his throat. "I really don't know what you want so I'm just gonna guess." I slowly step closer and swing one leg over his back. I get settled on top of his back and he quickly stands and takes off. I let out a small squeak from how fast he's running and I dig my hands into his fur to hold on.
As Kit runs I glance through the Forrest. The late afternoon sun shining through the trees was so beautiful and you could see small rainbows from the rain that had just stopped. I closed my eyes and let the wind hit my face. I felt like I was flying.
Kit stops suddenly and I grab on tight. I open my eyes and look around me. We've stopped at a lake with a small water fall surrounded by the woods. I hop off of Kit's back and luckily land on my feet. I watch as Kit walks behind some large rocks. He comes back moments later wearing only boxers. I try not to stare and look only at his face.
"This is beautiful", I say with a smile on my face. Kit smiles back and then takes off running. I watch as he runs straight into the water like a mad man. Before I know it I'm laughing as he falls into the water. His head pops out of the water, "Cone on, Annie!" He calls.
"Turn around." He does and I strip quickly so I can make it to the water before he turns around. I stand in just my bra and underwear and I take a deep breath and start running towards the water. I get about waist deep when Kit turns around and splashes water on me causing me to squeal.
"It's on now!" I call. We spends the next 20 minutes chasing each other and trying to splash each other with water. Kit finally throws his hands up in surrender. "I give up! You win!" He laughs. He swims over to a shallower part of the water so we can stand. The water hits around my belly button and suddenly I wish I was wearing more than just my underwear. I watch Kira eyes as the scan down my body and I feel a bright blush spreading across my cheeks. I look down and squirm under Kit's gaze.
His hand on my cheek pulls my face up so that I'm looking into his eyes. "Annie, what's wrong?" He asks me. I feel my cheeks burn red again. "Kit, I- I'm not-" he interrupts me. "Whatever you were about to say, don't. You are absolutely beautiful." My head snaps up to meet his green eyes. He cups my face in his hands and I've never seen so much emotion in a someone's eyes before.
"What the hell is this?" A voice makes me jump and Kit quickly growls at whoever just spoke. I look toward the shore to see Scott standing the with arms crossed. His car stood beside him and I never even heard it pull up. Scott looks at me, no not at me, at my chest. I squirm uncomfortably and move myself behind Kit.
"Annie, come here." Scotts voice booms over the quiet forest. I hear a low growl come from Kit. I make no move to come out from behind Kit's back. "Annie!" Scotts yells so loudly I thought the ground would shake for sure. I start to move towards Scott and I feel Kit's hand wrap around my wrist to stop me.
"Scott, you need to calm down." He says. Scott smirks, "Have you forgotten that you're the lone wolf Kit? You don't get friendship, you don't get happiness, and you certainly don't get whatever it is you want from Annie!" Scoot marches toward us and grabs my arm, ripping me away from Kit's grasp. I'm pulled out of the water and toward's Scotts car.
I look back at Kit, only to see him looking down at the water. I struggle against Scott but he's much stronger than I am. Despite my efforts I'm thrown into the car and driven away at a dangerous speed.
