Chapter fourteen

Aika Kiryu

"Zero let go of me!" I pleaded as I struggle to get out of his grip. He turns me around to face Shizuka. "You don't have to do this to him, I will let you do whatever you want with me, just please, don't make him do this."

"My body has been hungering for years. Don't you think your blood alone would not suffice?" She eyes Zero, and moves towards him.

"You said I would be enough for you!" Shizuka bit Zeros neck, he flinched and I tried to fight back, but he still held me down. "Isnt that enough?! Why do you insist on being so cruel to Zero?!" She stops.

"Its punishment for getting too comfortable with you." She touches my face once more, the fluttering touches gave me goose bumps. "You're one to talk, your choice made him suffer, I know that. But I didn't expect that for you."

I look down to the floor in despair. "I thought... that maybe if I gave myself up, I'd help him, turns out I just made him closer to what he despises in life. I wonder if he'll forgive me one day." She goes to bite me next. For some reason, I felt like she wouldn't be able to.

Zero's grip loosened and before Shizuka go to close, her neck was already in his hands. "Zero-! No!"

"Its useless, Zero, you just have to be obedient, as of right now. You can't tighten those fingers around my neck can you?" She said as he struggled to raise my gun at her. Instead the trigger was pulled and the bullet landed in his thigh.

"You can't take anything away from me again!" He ended up with the strength to shoot her three times in the chest.

She starts laughing uncontrollably, "As if I'd die from something like this." She takes off the top layer of her kimono.

"Ill end this... all of it!" Zero fired the gun again, only resulting in Shizuka blocking them with her fabric.

"Those eyes. This is fine. Isn't this what you wished for from the bottom of your heart? To die along with me?" Her eyes soften slightly. But then it all clicked. If she dies, Zero will die with her.

Out of no where Zero flinched and a katana was thrown right through his arm. "Ichiru!-" I cut myself off as he steps through the door.

"Lady Shizuka... how long do you intend to make a sport out of them? If you are hunted down here, that will be a problem." The white hair almost went down to his shoulders. In my mind I guess I never realized that he's grown up too.

"Humph... that was unnecessary." Shizuka closes her eyes in annoyance. She regains her composure as she moves towards Ichiru. "You didn't have to show up. I have things to do still. You have no cause of worry. I don't plan on being killed here."

I felt Zero's raged and his disgust. "Shizuka!" Zero shouted as he went to follow her, but Ichiru stopped his before we could walk out the door.

"Do you intend to leave me again, Zero?" Ichiru Smiled through his mask. I gripped my fist in anger.

"Nobody left, except you..." I spoke out.

"No, no, I meant to the vampire world." He looks at me, sighing in the process.

I looked at him and he looked resentful. "You want to become one, don't you? This entire time..."

"Don't fool yourself, being human is a tragedy. Be honest, Aika, you too have dreamt about it." Ichiru takes off his mask.

"Ive had dreams, but I've never wanted to be. The fact that you would want to become one just means your weak, you left us to die!"

I punch him in his face and he stumbles back for a step, he looks back at me with a smile still remaining on his lips. "You really think you could hurt me?" He laughed to himself. "Shizuka has been giving me a share of her blood. The power a Pure Breeds blood possesses is something different, gives you special powers. I know your just inching for some too." He pulls out his dagger. Zero instinctively pulls out the katana towards him.

"Stop Zero!"I stand in between them "Why must you two fight like this? You guys are actual siblings, related by blood, not everybody has that."

Let them fight... You have no concern for them. They're not of your blood.

I shake the thoughts out of my head. All of a sudden, Ichiru had his dagger pointed at me. "If you interfere, even without lady Shizuka's permission, I will-"

"You'll what?" Instead, Zero pulled his gun on him.

"I though that weapon Hunters use doesn't work on humans?"  With Ichiru still smiling, Zero was taken aback.

Zero put down his gun, "I figured as much." And Ichiru took this time and slashed him right in the chest.

I wanted to intervene, but they were to close. "Stay back, Aika!"

As Zero said that, I went and looked for Shizuka. There was a blood trail leading to an empty part of the house. I was about to look through the partially open door, but then a voice came from the back of the room.

"So much blood, Shizuka..." he spoke softly.

Kaname?

"Thats why anti-vampire weapons are dangerous. Even a Purebloods' extraordinary healing powers can be hindered considerably." His voice gave me butterflies, but it also angered me at the sound.

"Kuran's boy... why are you here?" Shizuka wondered, same as me.

"This is the room I was first given when I came to this academy."

"Really? I like this room. Theres no one to bother me." She sounded like she was walking across the room.

"You're right."

"Now, I'll ask again. Why are you at cross academy?"

"To pay a debt... And it was also ideal to gave my pawns." His voice sounded louder as his foot steps came a little closer to the door. "And... probably... I am trying to do exactly what your doing. Shizuka... like you, Im doing this for one person. But somewhere along the way, it became two." All of a sudden, I heard the sound of a faucet dripping.  "You don't seem to surprised..."

"I also had been thinking of taking your life, with Aika Kiryu as the assassin. I was going to use Yuki, however, I noticed it wasn't her you loved the most..." I heard the breath of her voice begin to slowly fade.

"That was a wise choice. Didn't think it was noticeable." I heard the calmness in his voice. He sounded sincere, but It feels like he's lying, lying to give her a sense of peace.

"You too. Now that my healing power is diminished by a Hunter's weapon, tearing out my heart might kill even a Pureblood like me."  My eyes over filled as I covered my own mouth.

Kaname wouldn't do this...

The last words that came from there mouths were muffled. I felt as if my own heart was being ripped out too. I stumbled into the room, and as I did, Kaname ripped his hand out of her body, along with her heart. "How....?"

"There is nothing but darkness in your path, Kaname." As he laid down her body, he started at me.

He breathed out heavy. "I know that."

Even I, could smell the blood covering and lurking inside the room. I couldn't imagine what everybody else could smell...

"How could you...?  HOW COULD YOU!?" I screamed at him. "I thought this time-.... I thought this time would be different." I tried to control my breathing, but I just shook violently with rage as my fists ball up. "But your just like the rest of your kind. First, you take my Family, you take Zeros life, then you take his last chance of freedom? How could you...? You promised me, you promised me you'd help me take care of him. But your just like a poison, you corrupt everything you want, and take what you want. Just like how we came from ash, you will return to it. And I hope you do..."

Then Ichiru voice rang through the halls. I felt Kaname's hand being wrapped around my mouth and we ended up in his room.

"Stay here... We can talk later, Ai-" He went for the door, but I cut him off.

"There is no talking later... if you cant speak now, then there's nothing to talk about, Kaname." My eyes were glued to the floor.

"You leave me no choice..." His hand covered my eyes, and I black out
