Chapter five

It was the next day and I still wasn't in good enough shape to patrol or go to school. I just stayed in my dorm room until I needed food. I went over to the headmasters' house and whipped up some eggs and toast. I heard the door open and there followed Yuki arguing with Zero again. I haven't seen Zero since the incident last night so I knew it was going to be an awkward position to be in.

The voices trailed into the kitchen. "Oh, Aika! How are you feeling?" Yuki came over to me and felt my forehead.

"I'm doing good, I've just been hungry." I reassured her.

"Awe hopefully you're good for tomorrow!" She smiles. "Ah! I almost forgot! Here." She hands me a little packet of seeds.

It was the same thing she got me every year.

"Thank you." I hugged her.

"It's nothing. I swear."

"Still, I appreciate a lot..." I smiled.

I turned to where Zero was standing and he was just gazing at me. His eyes traveled to my neck and he looked back to my eyes.

"Well imma see headmaster. I confiscated all the girl's photo albums of the night class." Yuki smiles at both of us and leaves.

"I'm-" He started but I cut him off.

"Please don't... There's no need. It's my fault." I said as I got my food and sat down at the table.

"How did you know?" He put his hand on the table.

"I saw her the other day..."I looked out the window as the sun continued to set.

"W-What?" He stuttered slightly.

"That's what caused Aido to attack me. Shizuka cut my arm, I had to get stiches. Of course I only told Headmaster who did it, and Yuki promised me she wouldn't tell you, I didn't want to worry you."

"And-"

"And I know she's a Pureblood." I set down my fork and looked up at him shyly.

"You Can-" I cut him off for the last time.

"Can't tell anyone, I know... Except Kaname knows."

"I'm aware of that."

"I'm sorry... For not noticing for so long." I lost my appetite and threw away the remaining food on my plate.

"Please don't let this get you down, I was trying to not have you figure it out anyways." He got up and started walking away.

"Wait..." I grabbed his wrist. I didn't really have anything to say, I just wanted him to see him a second longer. I realized what I was doing and let go a few seconds later, "Have a goodnight." And I left before him.

Zero Kiryu

I stood, still in the kitchen I just pondered in my thoughts. She seemed off, like she felt unsure about herself around me. I walked back to the dorms and my head started pulsating, my gums went under excruciating pain. All I could think about was Aika. My vision went fuzzy as I stood at the bottom of a set of stairs. I heard a familiar voice; Yuki's. She got closer and closer and talked about what happened earlier in town with the kid and the ballon. Her steps got louder and louder and I couldn't turn around. She got close enough to the point where it was bound to get ugly. "Don't get closer!"

"Wh-Why?" She shuttered. "I want to talk with you more. I want you to tell me about yourself! After all, we're the same--" I cut her off.
