Pages turn,
Words devoured.
Breath quickens,
Eyes scour.Snap! the book shut,
Sit for a moment,
Full of awe,
From all that was in it.So many people,
Live and die.
No one remembers.
Not gonna lie. Those who make a difference, though.
Soldiers,
Leaders,
Servants.Do they get the respect they deserve?
No.
Has anyone ever read a book about them?
No.Everyone knows about Harriet Tubman,
Honest Abe,
And Washington. But what about those who got left behind,
Who made such a difference,
With everyone blind?Where are their stories?
Their statues?
Their tales? What would be the right thing to do,
The right thing to say,
To get yourself remembered that way?So that you could stand tall,
Metal,
Unfeeling.
People always to you revering.I'd rather be forgotten.
