"Adelaide don't let your anger control you," Hailee says soothingly attempting to calm me down. I take a deep breath replying," I'm fine; I'll call you back later," I hang up and shove the phone in my purse.

I turn to look at myself in the mirror as I mumble to myself to stay calm. Once I've composed myself and put a lid on my emotions I head out of the bathroom to find yet another man sitting at the table.

However, I can't see the man's face but I've seen his back before. It's a back I used to have too many piggy back rides on against his will. Call me weird;I can recognize my brother by his back

"Well well well look what we have here. Damien Tade and Xavier Benjamin," I cross my arms and tap my high heel waiting for a response.

"Addie I.." I place my hand on his mouth interrupting him by stating in a very calm voice, "Don't Addie me Damien . To start off, I was on a date and I don't recall the presence of a brother being part of the protocol. Secondly, we both know that you sabotaged my date and used Benjamin as back up. As for you Xavier, I'm also wearing heels and my feet are killing me, so you are lucky we are in public or else these heels of mine would've left a mark on your face."

I hear people around us gasp and mutter in disapproval.

"Can't a girl have some private and quality time with her brother and her old buddy? Oh wait, I don't need to take anyone's permission. We're in the USA: the land of freedom. Everyone please go back to your own business."

Everyone's eyes immediately looks away from me as I nod in approval.

As I turn my attention back to the men at my table a twinge of guilt suddenly hits me. "I guess I was too harsh on you Damien and overreacted. I'm sorry about that, but not for you intruding on my date. I'll let it go though because my date sucks."

Damien laughs, "It's fine sis, I'm used to your tantrums and mood swings. I'm happy he sucked, so now give Benjamin a chance. He was the one behind of all of this. The guy you met wasn't your real date. Xavier paid your real date a few bucks to ditch."

Before I turn to look at him, Damien states," I have to go back to work, Apples?"

"Bananas." We exchange hugs and he exchanges a handshake with Xavier then leaves.

I take a seat in front of Xavier as he sits there smugly with a smirk on his face.

I order a big fat burger and a drink because all these mood changes, anger, and confusion consumed all my energy. "So you still want me after all these years?"

He shrugs and leans back taking a sip of champagne without breaking eye contact. Is it getting hot in here?

I lean forward and grab his face giving him kiss. His eyes widen in shock and attempts to deepen it, but I don't allow it.

I laugh once we break from the kiss, "yep I feel nothing." His face scrunches in confusion waiting for me to further explain. You certainly felt nothing Adelaide. Just a few sparks that are meaningless...

Don't lie Adelaide. Your feelings haven't faded since high school.

"I kissed you to make sure I have no feelings towards you. Call me terrible or straightforward."

He grabs the champagne and gulps it all down. "You're certainly devilish. Devilishly hot."

I ignore his words as I watch my burger come out of the kitchen towards our table. That sweet moment when your food arrives. I think I'm going to shed a few tears. You're so dramatic Adelaide

Before the burger is set on the table, Damien says, "can we have that on the go and the bill please." The waiter nods and walks away with my beautiful burger.

"Why? You're lucky I already caused a scene so I won't cause another one, but you'd be on the ground and I'd be chocking you."

"You never cease to amaze me darling," he shows me his million dollar smirk with that mouth of his.

"May ask why are you here and most importantly why you won't let me indulge my food in peace?"

"Is your food more important and precious than me?" He pouts as I raise my eyebrows.

"I'm sure we both know the answer to that question. At least my food keeps me happy and entertained unlike you."

He places a hand on his heart, "ouch darling that hurts."

I snort, "please that didn't make a dent in your overly inflated ego."

He laughs wholeheartedly, "how I missed your offends. Life has been certainly boring without you in it."

I sense my cheeks turn red and I cover them with my palms. My life has boring without you too, but I'll never admit that or he'll forever use it against me.

The waiter comes back with the bill and the to go bag. I grab the bag and sneak a few french fries out of it.

I take the credit card out of my bag, but before I know it the waiter is gone.

Xavier states, "as long as I'm alive and with you, you'll never pay for a single meal when we're eating together."

"I'm not going to fight you against this because this is a battle unfortunately I'd lose. Thank you though," I smile genuinely and continue sneaking french fries out of the bag as we walk out of the restaurant.

"Where are we going?" I ask amidst munching on my fries.

He opens the door of his car for me then proceeds to reply, "somewhere."

"Oh well I can't leave my car here," I lie as he chuckles.

"You're such a liar; you came with a car," he states then his eyes widen once he realizes what he just said. Busted

"Stalker alert, but I trust you so I'll get in the car," I get in and he closes the door.

Once he's in, he proceeds to state, " first we need to take a stop at your house, so can I have the directions please?"

"Xavier Damien you're starting to freak me out. Don't you know the directions already stalker?"

"Actually I don't. Well you can't be wearing this for where we're going next. You need to get comfy," he looks at me and points at my heels.

"Well where are we going then?"

He smiles, "we're going on an adventure."
