Kira's POV

Scythe would ask me secretly about Duas' condition. I knew she was concerned about him. But my brother turned to a thick-headed man. He seemed more prideful. He almost lost his humble side in everything. He was afraid of being crushed again. Scythe was still blaming herself about his behavior. She said she would be coming back right after her work.

I knew that was lie. Scythe couldn't break away from her responsibilities especially now. They had been preparing for her 18th Birthday. The entire world was invited. Of course, they had many servants but Scythe was a perfectionist to the extreme. Mortal Family was doing everything to please her. Well, Scythe wouldn't even dare to look at any mistake. It was a shame for her. Even the tiny details about her party were needed to be polished or else.

Her party was for their business too. Its goal was to attracted many supporters. It felt like that Scythe was doing everything as if she would be gone for good after that. I frowned at that thought. If she disappeared, my brother's sanity would  pass away too. Well, I would cry too. She was more than a friend to me. She was like my sister. I really loved her even though at first I doubted her kindness.

She was the one who made Stahl realize his feeling for me. I would be forever grateful to her because of that. When we broke up, Scythe looked more broken than me. That was the first time, I saw her cry while hugging me. She felt sorry for me and she said that she knew I couldn't cry for myself that was why she would cry for my sake. I felt being loved by her.

We were currently sitting in the dinning room. The room was big enough to hold a big party. The walls were painted with the mildest shade of green. There were paintings around us; mostly made by Duas when he was still a kid. I could say that he had learned from the best. You couldn't say a kid made those master pieces because of the proffesional feeling it was giving. The chandelier above us was daring me look at  it for etenity. The room was marvelous enough with it, but it's presence gave an additional beauty.

"So son, how was school? " Dr. Edraclism asked me. Well, Duas looked like he was not listening so I was the one left to answer him.

I smiled like a good son. "It was awesome, Doc, "

"I thought I said you could call me dad, " He smiled.

"Oh, yeah! I remember. Thank you, dad, "

Duas took a glance at me. He smirked; removing his stareat me then sliced his steak. "Dad, when will I get marry?"

That question took Dr. Edraclism by surprise. He nearly spit out his juice. Good thing, he had mannners.I  inaudibly laughed.

"Duas, I know you really miss her but don't sulk like that, " Dr. Edraclism answered coolly.

"Dad, come on. You are not going to hand over my share or let me work, now you won't even tell me my wedding's date." Duas whined. He looked like an impatient brat; pouting at his food. "All I want was to know that, "

Dr. Edraclism sighed. He waved his hand in defeat. "I will tell you if you finished your Medicine course in just three years in America," Did he said three years? Was my new dad insane too? No one could finish that course in just three years. Even InterMed needed seven years. A doctor with just three years of training would only kill his patients.

"Dad, I already finished with that course when I'm 15!" Duas shouted. What? That was indeed a witticism.

"Duas, watch your tone. I am still your father, "

Duas acknowledge our dad's superiority. He apologized and sat properly on his chair; keeping his posture. "All I am saying is why do I even need to finish that thing again? It will be a waste of money and time. Dad, you know I can be a doctor anytime and anywhere because I have finished almost every Medicine course. Last year, you even told me to get the course BS Biology and I followed you. I even got the highest remark in just one year. So why do I need to study that again?"
