It has been two weeks, since Nash disappeared. While his family and friends looked for him all over the place, they couldn't find him in the one place he actually was.
There was a lake on the other side of Mako, a side the mermaids never even thought of visiting, and it's well hidden. And there he was, Nash in his flesh, swimming by the edge of the water. You see, he was under a spell - he was a merman, permanently. Even if he tried to dry off the tail won't go away. He only turned human once every night, when the moon rose up. He had to swim into the reflection of the moon in order to grow his legs back. But, that's also not so simple - once he'd do that, he would become only a human. And a human cannot pass Mako Island's shark reefs while swimming. So he was trapped there, by none other than Aurora.Aurora walked closer to the edge of the water, wearing a long, silky gown. "How are you today, my little merman?" She said in mockery.
Not to lie, Nash was pissed, but he knew there's nothing he could do, so instead he chose to ignore her.
"May I ask the same old question?" She said. "Will you finally give me your powers?"
Nash rolled his eyes. "If you want it so badly just take it." He said under his breath.
"You know I can't do it without your cooperation!" She said angrily, but calmed herself down. "You can, give them to me now, or tomorrow night, or the night after, or the night after. I'll never let you go, and sooner you'll give in, the sooner you leave."
Nash was mad, even more than before. He worked so hard on anger management techniques he used to rehearse every day, but he couldn't help in, and he felt his fist tighten up. In a short moment, a dark cloud appeared over Aurora's head and sent a bone shaking lighting towards her.
But don't fool yourself, Aurora was great. In fact, she was one of the strongest mermaids out there. In a matter of a second, she used her hand and redirected the lighting to hit on the edge of the lake, a few inches only away from Nash himself."Don't try any stupid tricks on me." She was angry. "You see this?" She said, showing one of her fingers. "That's a moon ring, and it's a thousand times stronger than your powers, so don't even bother to try." She said and turned away and begin to leave.
Nash grabbed his head in his hands, and, for the first time in many years, he started crying. Small tears popped to his eyes, and he quickly wipes them off, glad at least no one was there to see him.SKIP
Bella, Cleo and Emma sat in a booth at the café. It was Emma's day off, and Cleo and Bella were only working later, so they planned on going shopping a little bit. All they needed was Rikki, and there she came.
"Guys, I just had an idea," She said in determination. She was clearly very excited, but also very focused. "What if, we search in the Northern side of Mako? There are caves, and lakes, and more jungle there that we never even been to! At first I though, 'Why would he be there?', but we cannot move on until we cover the entire island, right?" She said.
"Rikki, we won't find him," Cleo said, trying to lay it down gently.
"I figured it's a long shot, but if we leave tomorrow morning, we could cover the entire are-"
Emma cut her off. "What Cleo is trying to say is, we won't find him anywhere." Rikki looked at her at confusion. "He's been gone for weeks, if he's not back till now..."
Rikki was shocked. She was even more shocked when she looked at the other two, and they both looked down in shame of agreeing with Emma. "I can't believe you guys!" She felt betrayed, and not even for herself - for Nash. How could his closest friends just give up on him. "Are you seriously giving up on him that easily?"
Bella joined the conversation. "The police is still looking for him-"
"The police won't gonna find anything and you know it." Rikki cut her off. She lowered her voice with the following words. "It obviously wasn't any 'normal kidnapping'. It was something supernatural, Will said it himself."
"Just because he saw a light, it doesn't make it 'supernatural'," Emma said.
Rikki thought for a moment, and then stood up. "Fine, if you're not gonna help me, I'm gonna look for him by myself." She started walking towards the exit. The girls wanted to say something, but didn't exactly know what else to say.On her way out someone grabbed her hand. She turned to see none other than Zane himself.
"What do you want Zane? I'm not in the mood." Rikki said and untangled herself from him.
"Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is your 19th birthday." He smiled his arrogant smile at her.
"Yeah, I know when my birthday is." She crossed her arms over her chest.
"Well I would like to throw you a party. Here, tomorrow night." He said and placed his hand on hers. This was his next hope in order to get her thinking of him as more than a friend. He planned on throwing her the biggest, coolest party, and make a nice romantic gesture during slow dance in order to wake her feelings for him again.
"I don't have time for that, I need to go and find Nash." She said and started to back off the conversation towards the door.
But Zane knew Rikki, he know what was the best technique to get her to say yes. Rikki may be a though girl, but emotion worked hard on her. So he pulled his best hurt face, although deep inside, he was actually a bit hurt she picked Nash over him, but he'd never come to his senses about it.
Rikki rolled her eyes and sighed. To her lack of fortune, Zane knew her too well, and all she could say was, "Fine, I'll come to your stupid party. But only if you let me go now, I have a lot to plan for tomorrow." She said, and he flashed another smile at her. A satisfied one this time.Right when she left the café and begin heading home, Evelyn caught up to her. "Rikki!" She called.
"What?" She said, and not to lie, she was a bit pissed of all the people that are getting in her way today.
"I couldn't not overhear what you said to the girls, mostly cause I was sitting right behind you, but I wanna help." She said.
"No thank you." Rikki said and kept walking.
"C'mon Rikki, he's my boyfriend." That was exactly why Rikki didn't wanted her to help. "And I just in terms with all this...merman thing, and I want to help. You know Mako way better than I do, and you need some help covering a large area, so we can work as a team."
Rikki hesitated. On one hand, Rikki really didn't like Evelyn. To be honest, at that point she would rather look for him with Zane. But Evelyn was right. She needed any help she could get, which was why Rikki agreed.
"Tomorrow morning, at 9, by the café." She said and began walking away, but stopped. "And don't walk in. Wait for me outside."
