Chapter 10

I look up at the clock. It says 4:15. I wonder if I had just lost a friend. I get up put the trail mix away, and trudge off to my room. When I get inside I go and flop onto my bed. And just lay there hoping to fall asleep and never wake up. At about 5:30 I hear the garage. I knew it was my mom.

"Kenzie!? How was your first day of school?!"

"Horrible!"

Then I hear footsteps coming up the stairs.

"Kenzie. What happened.?"

"I'm pretty sure I just lost my only friend."

"Let me come in."

"Come in."

My mom walks into my room and sits at the bottom of my bed.

"Why did you lose your friend?"

"We had a fight, and now she's not talking to me."

"Just give her a couple of days."

"But I sat with her at lunch! Now where am I going to sit! I don't have any other friends."

The room got silent.

"Why don't you have other friends?"

"Because no one likes me but Kendall. We'll at least she used too."

"Well what about Paige?"

"She doesn't go to my school. And I don't talk to her much."

"Oh.."

"I just want to be alone.... For the rest of my life."
