She blocked out all the noises and names that were being thrown at her as she made her way down the hall. She had heard them more than enough before and learned to block them out.

She held her books tightly to her chest and kept her head down. She dared not to make any eye contact in the hallway or that would be the result of direct humiliation.

She wasn't any where close to popular. She was at the bottom of the food chain as you could say.

Everyone knew who she was but not the story behind her darkness. All anyone knew was rumors. She kept to herself.

No friends.

No one to count on.

She never talked unless spoken to. She liked to write as it was a way to release hidden feelings.

She was a junior and had been going to the same school for over eight years.

She made her way quietly to maths class and sat in the very back in the seat by the window. She set her books down on her desk and looked out into the field.

It was peaceful and sunny.

The sun glistened into the window. The breeze lightly blew the grass in patterns.

She sighed and focused on the teacher as he mumbled on about the lesson. She drifted out as she opened her notebook and began to write.

"Niall! Wazzup, man?"

He rolled his eyes at the multitude of people surrounding him. He plastered on a fake smile and nodded.

He continued his path down the hallway until he saw her. He half smiled as she walked by him not even looking up.

He had been watching her for almost a year now, waiting for the right time.

He was sent here specifically for her.

To safe her from herself.

To save her from the beast.

He had to wait though for when he was told to directly intervene. He hated that he had to wait and watch while all the pain and torture occurred.

A small growl escaped his lips at the thought of the pain she had to endure everyday.

"Niall? You okay?"

He looked at his 'best friend' and nodded.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He shook his head as an attempt to clear his heads of the thoughts that made anger dwell to the surface.

He took a deep breath as he approached his locker, getting out the books he needed for English.

He was a senior and almost hated being a year ahead of her. He hated not being able to be in the same class all the time. Not being able to make sure she was okay.

The only times he got to see her was during lunch and every now and again through the hallways.

He stalked off to English class with his small group of so called 'friends' huddling around him.

They only surrounded him because he was popular. He didn't come here to be popular, he came here to save her and that's what he intended on doing no matter what the cost.

They only made him popular because he had good looks and was captain of the football team. After half a year of not getting the order to intervene, he decided to occupy his time and played football.

Jake clapped him on the shoulder as he made his way into English class and sat towards the back as always.

"What's up with you recently man? You have been so out of it."

Niall shook his head and met eyes with Jake. "Nothing. Just been thinking about this up coming season."

Jake grew a smile and laughed. "Me too."

He sat in the seat next to Niall. He couldn't help his blue eyes as they rolled.

He was starting to get fed up with all the people. He was frustrated that he hasn't been given the order yet.

He was scared of loosing her soon. He wanted to end her darkness once and for all.

Maybe he would have to disobey orders to help her. He shook his head at the conversation he was having with himself.

He would never dare disobey orders.

Never.
