"Honey,"my mom said in reply. New York is somehow far from this place. How can he get there?"
"Somehow far from New York. It's only somehow far. But it takes a short time getting here. But we don't know. We aren't even sure if he really left the zoo or.. he was taken. Honey, we don't know yet. Just please, I wouldn't know where they're heading! And I am sure it is Chigo."
"Okay, I'll contact him right away. Bye."
"Bye," my dad said hanging up.
My mom tried calling Rodger. But there woukd be no reply. She texted him instead.
Rodger, please pick up the phone as soon as possible. We have news about Chigo. My husband, as I told you, he is now in New York. I cannot type everything. Please answer.
She pressed sent and placed the phone on her pocket.
"Mom, it's okay," I said. "We'll be able to get him. We've got Rodger. Chill, mom. I know this is gonna turn out okay. I hope."
Before she could speak, her phone rang. It was Rodger.
"Hello, Rodger!" Mom said.
"Sorry, Mrs. Dawn. This is Lea. Rodger's in a meeting right now."
"Oh, no. Lea, please report this to him as soon as possible," Mom said. She told her the whole story. How Dad saw him, and what's happening.
"Oh, dear," Lea said. "I'll try to excuse him for a while. His meeting.. it's not quite almost done. Talk to you later, Mrs. Dawn. I try to report it as soon as possible."
"Okay, thank you, Lea," she said, hanging up.
"Mom," I said.
"Dear, we have to travel to New York. That's all we need to do. But we have to go with Rodger."
"New York? Oh my gosh, New York City. I can't believe this is happening. I'm excited but I'm scared. Chigo, plus New York. I'm confused. But.. let's go!"
"We should, Kelli. But we have to go to Rodger's meeting first."
"Wait, what?"
"I know this'll be embarrassing but they know. Lea texted me where to go."
"Can I see?" I said. I checked the text.
Mrs. Dawn, I have told Rodger already. Please go to Lanson building. Go to tge fourth floor and go next to the room in front of the elevator. We can head straight to New York and start searching.
"Okay," I said. "But what about Freddie?"
"He's staying with Solemn first."
"Okay, good. Let's go and search for him before midnight comes."
"Yes, darling," she said, calling for a taxi.
"Lanson building please," she requested.
"Sure, ma'am"
We headed straight to Lanson building with Cassie. There, Rodger was waiting for us in the lobby.
"I heard about it," he said. "Let's hurry up."
They stepped in the taxi. Five minutes later, Dad called. I picked it up and his voice sounded worried.
"Dad, we're going there already. Where are you?"
"In a bench."
"Dad, why?"
"The truck.."
"I lost it."
"What?!"
"I have no idea where it went. They made him sleep. That must take long. I-," my mom's phone turned off. We realized, it had no more battery.
"Mom! Did you forget to charge your phone?"
"Rodger, may we borrow?"
"Sorry, I lost his number. Just dial it here."
"Here," Cassie said, passing the phone to Mom.
"Um.. I don't memorize his number. Lea, do you have his number?"
"Sorry, Rodger and I share the phone. We have only a single phone."
"Oh my."
