Chapter 12

We finally made it we've walked Day and night and we made it to Washington D.C. All my friends that had been to Washington were right it was really pretty before the virus. Now Washington looks like a dump and it's because of the virus. I almost forgot about the virus this whole time while traveling with Mason and Skyler, we haven't seen a zombie for days and that honestly surprised me. Stuck in daydream mode I bump into Mason, " I'm so sorry, I was daydreaming." I stutter. " I hope it was about me." Mason laughs. Even though it's the end of the world Mason can still smile and laugh and make others smile it makes me feel like a little girl again. " Hey guys, I think those zombies are coming and there's lots of them." Skyler tries to say quietly but enough for us to hear. She was right, there were about thousands they were traveling in hoards that's why we haven't seen them on our trip to Washington. " Guys lets run and hide so they won't chase after us." I say suggestively. We run into an apartment building, most of the doors to the apartments are open and empty. We chose to run into apartment 3B until the hoard was far away. It was a very cute apartment. The apartment had a flower wallpaper and their were toys all over the floor. This person who lived here must have had children. When I got to the bedroom there was a foul stench, it almost made me throw up. Curious as always I opened the door more and I found where the stench was coming from. It was a dead body and it had rotten away into the carpet which was stained with black and red spots. How sad. Mason comes from behind me and sees what I'm staring at. " Hey would you want to help me pack up some stuff for the road." He asks me gently. I nod my head yes and he grabs my hand and leads me away.

I know that Mason and Julianne like each other but it's the end of the world their love won't really last especially with what Mason has he's going to die soon but I won't say anymore.
~ Back to the story~
" Hey you two love birds, I think the hoard is thinning out so we'll be able to go soon." Skyler laughs. " I want to thank you guys for coming with me, I couldn't have done this without you guys." I say gratefully. They both smile and nod at me. Well we better get on the road if we're all going to survive. Skyler leads us into the street, just as the hoard passes away. She looks like a ninja sneaking pass them and going through shortcuts. We follow her through little cracks in the wall and into telephone booths. " Hey do you even know where your going?" Curious I say. " Actually no I don't we need to find a shop with some maps so that's what I was looking for." Skyler replies. Wow she planned ahead. She was always the busy bee in our friend group, I miss my school days, I miss having a normal life. Those days will never come back to me.
