Shadows crawl on my wall in the morning, like they are hiding from the suns bright touch. The shadows remind me of myself, because I'm always hiding from my problems. These are just morning thoughts no matter how true they may be. As the somber ideas hover over me, I make my way to my bathroom. I've never noticed how clean my house was until now, the white walls were almost shiny enough to see my messed-up hair and probably gross face. The hall were empty except for the navy carpet and a few family pictures here and there, they contrasted well with white walls.
I walk slowly in the white-navy hall as I hear the voices that I can only assume to be coming from the bathroom. I always wake up early to avoid the little devils my parents like to call my siblings. I rest my body on the doorframe belonging to the crowed bathroom only to see a mosh pit of two children and one sleep deprived mom.
I pity her, I'd die if I had to do that. The sleep deprived adult and I make eye contact so I just decide to blow her a kiss and wave goodbye and I start to walk away from that mess, almost tripping on a wooden table I could've have sworn didn't exist.
Downstairs the house still looks the same, white walls, blue carpet and, black and brown family pictures scattered about in an orderly fashion and this time the furniture is visible and I won't almost trip on them again. I smell an amazing breakfast coming from the kitchen and I start to walk faster towards the mouthwatering source.
"Mornin" I say unenthusiastically,
"Hey Joshua, how's the morning treating you," my dad quickly adds as he turns around.
I can see he's laughing at me through his chiseled face." What happened to you?" he chuckled confirming my previous suspicions,
"I actually forgot about that. I couldn't wash my face or brush teeth because there was a little demon infestation in the bathroom" I sarcastically respond.
The old man gestures to the kitchen sink and a spare brush on the counter across from him.
"Don't worry kiddo I know how you feel", he added sympathetically. That's a first, I think to myself as I take the spare tooth brush.
The breakfast was a beautiful display of blueberries and strawberries surrounding the main piece, pancakes with a small amount of maple syrup running down the three-story stack. I savor every single piece of that sweet disk. I look up to see my mom seating the 'things', I was so preoccupied with the beauty in front of me that I didn't notice them.
Randomly the question popped up in my head and I put down my fork and ask "Where's Ashley?"
My mom responded reassuringly as she settled the youngest in her chair, "Ashley she left early for school, which means you should be going too, remember last time you where la--",
"--Yes mom, I know it won't happen again I promise." She just sends a warm smile and shoos me away. I didn't finish my pancakes so I just resort to grabbing a plastic container and taking it with me to my fourth week of Hamilton High.
Luckily, the school is walking distance from my house. I feel bad for the kids who need to take the train or bus, both where always crowded. Again, I see my shadow in front of me walking with me mocking me with that stupid thought earlier, I don't run from my problems I solve them. And like that, a shadow expanded covering the entire sidewalk... and the entire neighborhood. After a slight panic attack, I look to the sun only to see it covered by a cloud, I don't know why that scared me so much but I just brush it off as a random occurrence.
The rest of the walk went smoothly, no weird shadow stuff happened again thankfully. I turn to the corner of the street only to see the gates of the school swarmed by a huge crowd. Looking for familiar faces in the crowd I spot my younger sister Ashley and make my way towards her.
She has her arm outstretched with a phone in hand recording... A fight of course, what did I expect two people dancing? No, fights are common here, mostly because teenagers are wild beasts.... Well, most of them at least. Curiosity got the best of me and I want to know who were fighting, but I also don't because I probably already know. I'm so short compared to the other students in this school that even using my tippy toes, I can barely see what's happening, but I can see enough.
And before my eyes were the infamous Tyler Joseph and Brenden Urie. They have gone and fought at least four times in the last two weeks. I don't have the courage to ask why they fight so much, I only depend on the rumors going around. The most popular rumor is that Tyler did "stuff" with Brenden's Unity.
The fight lasted for a few more minutes until a few police officers broke up the fight and escorted the two boys inside the office. Before they could take them away Tyler stole my gaze and then all I could see was him. All I could do was scan his injuries strewn about his head and arms. Why did I feel bad for this kid... he's a delinquent, a disgrace to society.
An officer walks notices my distraction and casually tells me from his post "Go on kiddo, you'll be late for class", I nod and smile trying to forget my pity words about the delinquent while I walk into the school.
I couldn't hold back. I had to look at him, and when I do the thought I was attempting to purge resurfaced stronger and louder, You... Who are you... who are you really?
I barely made it to my first period, I could tell as the bell rung when I stepped into the class along with the piercing gaze of my peers. I look to the spot where I normally sat, only to see it taken by the class try-hard, he's annoying...so annoying. I sigh quietly as I see the only spot available being in the back of the class.
I decide to stare at a picture of a clock on the wall, attempting to figure out its mechanized components, this is far more interesting than the boring lecture in the front. The knowledge of clockmaking was lost a long time ago, well not lost, only known by a few specific individuals. We are not allowed to make anything, since we already have everything we need, but still the idea of creation is marvelous.
The ideas of cogs and gears spinning and grinding literally fell apart in my mind as two officers and a shady figure walked into class. The shady figure was of course, Tyler Joseph... The teacher points towards my direction, my reaction like anyone's was too look around, I didn't do anything illegal, They can't read minds remember?
My gaze now fixed on the empty table next to me, my head is confused at this point, my thoughts were split in two directions. A part of it screamed: Yes! A chance to question him!, and another part of me screamed: No, why him? You don't belong here, he's a delinquent, he's going to mug me!
He walked to the empty desk casually... too casually. He sat down and met my gaze, his smug smile confused me. He just got out of the principal's office, why was he smiling? His eyes still holding mine, he winks and faces the teacher. My face became heated for some reason, why?
My face still red, I agreed with my half internal screaming: Question him! Find out why he winked at you.
