"Codie!" I looked out the window seeing the three girls that I have became friends with here. I went down and opened the door. They held up bikini like outfits. "We're going to carnival!" They shouted. "Wait what?" I asked. "We're going to Rio de Janeiro!" Misty said. "No." I said before trying to close the door. Amber got her foot in the door forcing it open. "I'm not going." I told them. "Oh, but we need someone that can read and translate for us. It will be fun. Last year we already bought you a ticket and had a costume made for you when we go to the parties." Leah said.
"Kiss my hide." I said before locking myself in my room. "Hey Codie. Who's Guilherme?" Amber asked. "The contact has the Brazilian flag next to it." She added. I unlocked my door and grabbed my phone before locking it back. I opened it seeing she had texted him about going to carnival. 'That's great! Doing that for your friends.' He sent. Great I'm forced to go now. I asked when the flight took off and they said in two hours.
I quickly packed for who knows how long and grabbed some things I may need. They then ushered me out to Leah's truck and inside. I can't believe I'm going to this. Actually I had called Flint in December letting him know I couldn't be there this season. He didn't question it. But most of the Brazilian riders were. Apparently Kaique hadn't caught the flight and was still in Brazil. I honestly didn't care. Once landed in a different country, yes the girls pitched in and bought me a passport. We had to land in Mexico for an unexpected flight exchange. I luckily caught the right flight with them and we landed to Rio.
We got our bags as I listened to the intercom. After getting out of the airport Amber told me which hotel we were in. I saw a money converting booth and converted three hundred dollars to reals. "Going to need this." I said as Leah got a taxi. I told the guy the destination and in no time we were at the hotel. I paid him how much it was. And got out with the girls. We grabbed our bags and went inside. I couldn't help but feel comfortable here in Rio. I asked for a room and paid for as many nights as I could for five days. I came up short a night.
I took the key and went up. Voices could be heard down the hall we were going down. I looked behind me before bumping into someone. "Desculpa." I said apologizing before seeing who it was. "You?" I asked. "What are you doing here?" He asked. "They dragged me down here for Carnival." I said. He scoffed. He muttered some curses. "I'm glad we're on the same page." I said before going around him. I found the room with the girls behind me. Once the door was closed they had to question.
"Who was that?" "Why was he so hateful?" "Is he a past friend?" They didn't stop asking me questions. "Quiet. I'm not answering any of your questions." I said before going to the balcony to take in the view. It was beautiful. I then turned to them. "So what's first?" I asked. "The monument of Christ the Redeemer." Misty said. "Then let's go." I said. I grabbed my purse remembering that I'd have to get more currency. "Ok we pay our own fees. The three of you will have to band together to get the last night or else we're heading home." I said.
They nodded. We went down and exchanged for the currency and went along. Everywhere we went I caught a glimpse of Kaique with the guys. That night I just wanted to retire to the room. As I got up to the floor I was pressed against the wall. Rough lips met mine. The hold and lips were all too familiar. When the person backed up I saw it was Kaique. "What do you want?" I asked. "And yet someone told me not to get rid of you and give you space. I still want you Codie. I want to know every little detail about what happened to you before you met me. I want to know how you lived before me." He said.
I was already trying to get out of his grasp. "What's wrong?" He asked. "Nothing. I just want to go to my room and forget this." I said. His hold loosened. I broke from his grip and went down the hall to the room. I looked back seeing him following. I opened and closed the door before he could try to enter. Flashbacks from when my father would do that to me emerged. I shook my head leaning against the wall. "Codie. Please. I really want to talk." He said on the other side of the door. "No." I told him.
I sunk to the floor holding my head. The smell of my mother smoking pot filled my nose. My brother calling me worthless, ugly, weak and dumb before he had gotten ahold of me. Two hands gently grabbed my wrists. "Codie." I opened my eyes as he wiped tears away. Everything disappeared as I stared into his eyes. "Codie please tell me. Your a strong woman. I know you can tell me." He said. His hands dropped from my wrists to lay on my feet.
"Do you honestly want to know?" I asked. "I do want to know. Your still the most beautiful woman I know."
