I sat right beside him as we went to the airport. He was heading home back to his town and I was going back to America for the rest of the summer. As much as I liked working with Flint, I enjoyed being in the control box more. He found a place in the crowded parking lot and was able to park. He carried my bags up to the doors and followed me in to the desk. He bought me a ticket even though he didn't have to. "I'll see you soon?" He said like it was a question. I nodded wrapped my arms around him.
He set his head on top of mine before hugging me tight. My friends left yesterday so, Kaique took me on a tour of Rio to several places, restaurants, and even went double paragliding. It was fantastic and I enjoyed it. He kissed me before letting me go. I looked back several times at the Brazilian cowboy that had stolen my heart and I couldn't let go.
I went to the gate and found a seat. My duffle bag large enough to go onboard with me. My phone buzzed from my pocket. 'Saudades já' I smiled at the text he sent me. 'Miss you too.' I sent him back. A loud boom echoed through the airport. Then another right near my gate. A loud deafening ring filled my ears. I looked out the window before running out of the way. I covered my ears until I couldn't hear the ringing. First thing I did was go back to the main part.
"Codie!" I heard one voice above the noise. Two arms wrapped around me. I looked up seeing the only person I was looking for. He pulled me through the crowd to an empty corner. "Are you ok?" He asked. He pulled me back to him. He was rubbing my back. I could hear my heart racing. "Eu entendi você. Seu ok. Eu entendi você(I've got you. Your ok. I've got you)." I finally was able to wrap my arms around his waist. He held me as close as he could. He released me briefly to look down at me. He knelt down in front of me.
"What happened?" He asked. "I just sat down in a chair near the terminal when there." He pulled me down next to him. "There was a large boom. I looked out the window and saw the nearest plane in flames. I then." I swallowed still trying to calm down. "I then started making my way back to here." I got out. He held me between his legs in his arms as I was on my knees. "I doubt you are going to leave for another week." He said. "Not until your going to America." I told him. He kissed the top of my head.
He got the ticket and put it in my bag before standing and helping me to my feet. He wrapped his arm around my waist and took my bag from me as a security guard was ushering people out. "Andar vagarosamente. Seja cuidadoso(Walk slowly. Be careful)." The guy was yelling. "Keep your head down." Kaique said quietly. I did so by paying attention to the scars and details on his boots. Once outside he quickly let me to the truck.
He opened the passenger door and threw my bag into the bed. Then set me in the seat. "So I guess you get to meet my family?" He asked. "I guess I do?" I said/asked. "Don't worry right now. We'll stay at the hotel one more night or do you want to go ahead and go to my home?" He asked. "Depends on how late we'll be getting there." He said. "How long does that usually take?" I asked. "About five and a half hours." He said. "So, we're going to get a meal to go and then hit the road?" I asked. He kissed me before letting me get in.
We went to a restaurant I didn't know. He got out coming around to my side. He opened the door leading me in. I was basically hanging on his arm as we entered. He asked for a table for two. We were seated near the outdoor side. He pulled my chair out before pushing it in after I sat down in it. "Have you enjoyed your time here in Rio?" He asked. I nodded. "Yeah. It's been exciting." I said. "Glad you learned the language before coming here?" He asked. "It's a bit different than learning it from a tape or CD." I said.
"Isn't that why you were practicing with me when we first met?" He asked. I nodded. "What happened between us?" He asked. "I don't know. It might have been the simple fact that I couldn't keep up with how fast you could talk to me sometimes in a language you grew up knowing." I said. "Your getting there. The more you talk the language and the more practice you get, the faster you can spit it out." He said. "I just might have to." I said.
"You will especially around my family. There might be some words you don't pick up right away, others you'll know from hearing me say them." He said. I nodded. We ate in silence. He paid for the meal before leading me back to the truck. Maybe on the ride there he'll help me out with several words.
