The craziest thing happened off season for me. I was at my off season job, feeding bulls and cows when one of the bulls thought it would be nice to try and trample me. I was sent to the emergency room and had to get my knee examined. Badly sprained. I was supposed to be in a brace for three months.
I flew to Brazil for Christmas. Before even packing, I called Kaique asking if it was alright for me to come down for Christmas. He didn't mind, but warned me that it was going to be warm weather and wet. I didn't mind. I found some things that I thought both of his parents would like along with him.
The plane landed in Rio. I packed enough clothes for three weeks. That's just enough time for me to show my family side. That's a side I have not brought out since I was fifteen. I had one crutch to use for balance through the airport. While boarding the flight in the US, I had to prove that the other crutch was in my suitcase.
I saw a specific person waiting for me. Both of his parents were with him. He knew about the injury right after it happened. He let his mom take the sign before he came up to greet me. I dropped my luggage and the crutch letting him pick me up. I know it's been four weeks since I've last seen him though. He set me back down on my feet and got the crutch. "Onde está o outro(Where's the other one)?" He asked.
"Mala de viagem(Suitcase)." I answered. He nodded before asking which compartment it was in and getting it out. I could tell he was making sure it was the right height before letting me have it. He took my suitcase for me, leading the way back to his parents. His parents greeted me warmly before we headed out to the truck.
"Nossa! Estava congelando no Texas. Eu definitivamente vou amar vir aqui para o inverno(Wow! It was freezing in Texas. I'm definitely going to love coming here for the winter)." I said. "Você está convidado a vir aqui(You are welcome to come here)." His father said. Once at the truck it started drizzling.
They're used to this weather. I'm not. I'm definitely going to get used to it in the time I'm here. It didn't take long to find a place to eat my flight got in so late in the evening that we had to get a room to stay the night in until tomorrow morning. The only rooms available were double beds. Kaique and I slept on opposite sides of the bed with a pillow barricade between us to please his parents.
It's not like we'd have sex or play around. He kissed me goodnight from his side of the pillows and removed one so he could see my face. As long as I could see him, I was fine. Anything could go wrong, but I'm not going to think that way. I'm safe, protected, and away from harm.
When morning hit, we all were up and getting around. I got dressed in the bathroom without any complications. I decided on a pair of shorts and a tee shirt I got from the PBR shop.
Kaique shook his head when he saw it. I had to look innocent and unaware that it was him on the shirt. His dad got a kick out of it though. His mom was wondering how she could get one. What she doesn't know is that I got her one also. It's apart of her Christmas present from me. We went to breakfast before heading back.
They let Kaique and I share a room since his grandparents from both sides will be here for Christmas. Only rule was, we could not horseplay or try to make grandchildren, as his mom put it. No way we would until we were married. I went out with him to check the cattle on horseback. When we got back, we each took care of the horse we rode before going into the house.
About halfway to the house he scooped me up and carried me to the house. I rubbed some of my RTPR on my knee and put the brace back on. Two days until his grandparents get here. I helped his mom in the kitchen and she showed me certain ways to cook things. I picked it up easily and was able to hobble around the kitchen to help her out.
Her and I sat down at the table and talked for as long as we were cooking. She and I talked about certain things and about Kaique. I told her about the first time we ran into each other. She thought that I was a translator for them with how well I knew Portuguese. She then became really shocked when I explained that I wanted to learn the language.
She then said that if Kaique didn't become a bull rider like his father and grandfather, he would have been and artist for his ability to draw and sketch. I may get him to show me them later.
