Jesse's POV
I awake to the sound of machines beeping around me, and it doesn't take me long to realise where I am. The hospital. That bleeping sound, the machinery monitoring my health and heartrate.
I slowly open my eyes, blinking several times as my eyes begin to adjust to the extremely bright lights and clench my hands trying to get some feeling back into them, my whole body feeling numb.
My left hand feels bruised as I move it and I feel the tubes brush against my arm, I'm guessing that's an IV drip.
"He's waking up." Calls out Noah, "Go and grab the Doc man." He commands someone.
"OK, keep him from moving to much though." Luke replies.
"Ha, you try stopping his stubborn ass." My beta laughs.
"Good point." Luke's voice fades as his heavy footsteps leaves the room.
"God, he steps so loudly." I croak out, my mouth feeling dry, and throat feeling worse.
"Yeah that's Luke for you, never was very good at creeping around in blind man's bluff."
I laugh and cough my guts up in the process remembering our childhood games. "Even in his wolf form he's as loud as a horse's hooves on concrete."
"Don't even get me started bro." He sniggers, "Want some water?"
"Please."
I hear him shuffle to his feet and the gentle step as he moves towards me, I see him out the corner of my eye, my head in far too much pain to turn towards him.
"I'm gonna need a straw for this my head is banging."
"Got you one already man, open your gob." He shoves the straw into my mouth and I drink greedily, "Slow down buddy or you're gonna choke and puke this up. I ain't holding your hair back." He Jokes. I listen and slow down, taking small sips as oppose to the huge gulps prier.
"Ah Mr Wolfe, it's good to finally see you awake and talking, is it ok to come and check you over?"
"Yes it's fine, come on in Mark." He approaches the bottom of the bed and looks over the doctors notes, before resting it by my feet.
"Right, all your vitals seem fine." Was his reply after checking over the machinery, he also injects a liquid substance into the tubing attached to me. "I'm going to check you over and then we can look at getting you into a more comfortable position."
After checking me over, muttering phrases and doing reflex tests "voluntary movements are good," and using the eye light thing to blind me for a few minutes while he checks my eyes over, "eyes are open, retina intact and looking heathy," he and Noah lift me up into a sitting position. "You're heartrate is still going faster than average for our kind, but we will keep an eye on that and it should slow down naturally."
They prop pillows behind my back to allow me to sit up straight comfortably without feeling the cold metal frame of the medical bed I'm in.
"Your heads going to hurt for a few minutes while the painkillers are kicking in but shouldn't be too long now." He states after he checks his wrist watch.
"OK Doc, so watch actually happened? Am I alright?"
"Verbal responses are fine," He notes, "What do you remember?"
"The last thing I remember is shaking hands with Luke and feeling excruciating pain. From there I'm blank, until I woke up here."
The Doctor looks at me with concern. "You don't remember transforming?"
