Senior year. Finally. It was almost all over. Just 6 more months of torture and I was on to college.

My best friend Alex moved to Nigeria over the summer, so it was just Jack and I this year.

Jack moved here 4 years ago when his parents divorced, and A and I, who have been friends since 2nd grade, quickly made friends with him and it's just been us.

My school is big on cliques. Most people are really nice and friendly, but not very accepting. Their groups are their groups and they don't like new people joining them, especially the preps, which is why we befriended Jack. We knew how these kids were.

I remember first meeting Jack. He had brown curly hair and big brown eyes. He was seriously so adorable. At first he was quiet, slow to accept us and let us in, but I didn't blame him. His parents had just divorced. That couldn't be easy.

He did eventually open up and began telling us his dreams and secrets. At the beginning of freshman year he decided the start straightening his hair after he got a hair cut, but by senior year, Alex had convinced him to bring his curls back, so he added a little blonde in and grew his curls out. (Yes I know his hair isn't naturally curly)

I honestly barely got to see him this summer. He went to see his dad most of the summer so I just spent the summer with Alex, spending as much time as I could with her before she moved out of country.

I was really sad Alex was gone and I wouldn't be spending our last school year together, in fact, I cried a week straight about it before I became mostly numb.

I was pretty excited to see Jacky though. He got back a few days ago, 5 before school starts, so I haven't seen him since June until today.

"My keys are on the table by the front door! Have fun at school sweetie! I love you!" I heard my mom call up the stairs as I applied my mascara in the vanity mirror in my room.

I didn't bother replying, as I didn't want to mess up. I finished up and then grabbed my phone and new backpack, filled with new notebooks and pencils and pens that will be lost by Christmas, before rushing down the stairs.

Breakfast didn't seem appealing this morning so I just left the house, grabbing the keys on my way out. I was excited to drive my moms car. It was a beautiful black BMW that my dad had gotten her for Mother's Day this year. She never let me drive it, but my sad Land Rover was in the shop for the next few days and my mom knew I hated taking the bus, so she carpooled to work with her friend.

I tossed my bag in the passengers seat before sitting down and fastening my seatbelt. The seat was too far back since my mom had way longer legs then me, so I adjusted the seat before grabbing the steering wheel and breathing in the wonderful scent of new car. She kept this thing in pristine condition.

The drive to school was quick, but I ended up stopping to get some coffee to help me through the day since I spent most of the night sulking about my best friend being gone, instead of sleeping.

I parked the car as far away from other cars as I could so it wouldn't get scratched or anything, and then locked it before walking nearly 5 minutes to get inside.

Sadness and disappointment washed over me as I entered the front school doors. I recognized most faces as I walked to my new locker in the seniors hall. Alex, Jack and I had gotten ours all next to each other, before we knew that she was moving, but now that she was gone, there was a space in between Jacks and mine.
