Jack didn't show up to school for the next two weeks and I was worried. Was it because of what happened or was it something else?

He still didn't have his new phone, as far as I knew, so I couldn't text him and I've been so busy with homework and the other boys that i haven't had the chance to go over to his house yet.

"Good morning Sky." Jonah greeted me with a hug. "Good morning Jonah, you think Jacks here today?" I asked as we began walking side by side.

"Doubt it, i wonder what's up with him." Jonah replied.

"Me too."

"Hey guys! Jack here today?" Daniel asks as he approaches us.

"Not that we know of." I sighed.

"Maybe he got the flu or something. Let's go bring him donuts or something after school." Daniel suggested.

"That sounds like a good idea." Jonah raised his eyebrows.

"I'm down." I nodded.

"Perfect. This is my stop, see you guys later." Daniel waved as he left the group and walked into his class.

I spent the day tabbing my fingers on the desk and my feet on the floor, feeling anxious.

I'm not sure why I was so anxious, but as the day went on it just got worse.

Finally the day was over so I went out to my car, meeting the boys there. I unlocked the doors and watched as the other boys got in before getting in myself.

We had gotten some of his favorite candy bars during lunch so we were all just gonna bring those over to him and check on him.

I pulled into Jacks driveway after the 5 minute drive there, and we all got out, Daniel holding the candy.

"Hopefully he's home." Zach said.

"I'm pretty sure he will be." Corbyn responded.

We walked up to the porch but on or way we noticed something that caused us all to stop dead in our tracks.

The curtains to the front room window were partially open, revealing something horrible.

Yelling could be heard from in the house.

"I'm not done until I say I'm done you hear me you little shit? Stop crying you pussy!" His moms boyfriend could be heard yelling from outside.

We all pushed around each other trying to get a look in the window.

Jack was laying on the ground trying to shield himself with his arms, from his moms boyfriend who was standing over him holding a belt, a kicking him in the side.

Poor helpless Jack was laying on the ground, tears streaming from his eyes.

"Oh my god!" I screeched, covering my mouth with my hands as I stepped back. "Ssh!" Jonah shushed me.

"What do we do?" Zach asked, eyes wide as he stared at me and Jonah.

"We gotta call the police!" Daniel whisper yelled.

"Wait, let's take a video for proof and then we can knock on the door to stop him and call the police." Corbyn suggested, pulling out his phone.

"Good idea." Jonah said as they all crowded around the blonde haired boy while he videoed inside the house while I stood there crying, not able to watch.

After the boys got some footage we went up to the door and knocked.

The yelling immediately stopped and lots of footsteps could be heard before Jacks mom pulled the door open.

"H..hey is Jack here?" I hesitated.

She looked down at her feet for a moment, as if she was avoiding the question before responding, "No he's not, sorry." She lied.

"Oh. Can you uh give him these when he gets back and tell him we came by?" I noticed Jonah on the phone, over by the car.

"Yeah, sure thing. Thanks for coming by." She said before quickly shutting the door.

"This explains everything that's been going on.." I tried not to cry as me and the boys walked back to the car.

They all tried comforting me, but we were all so heartbroken.

We sat there in the driveway, talking about everything going on, while we waited for the police to arrive.

"Look there's a cop car!" Corbyn pointed down the street.

We watched as two cop cars pulled up across the street. 4 men got out of the cars and walked up to the house.

"Officer!" Jonah called to them as he climbed out of the car.

I sat there with my window slightly rolled down, listening.

"Is this the domestic violence?" The officer asked Jonah as they all stood in front of him.

"Yeah, my friend is in there, I watched his moms boyfriend beat him while she watched. He hasn't been to school in weeks and when he does come he's covered in bruises. He needs help." Jonah explained.

"Ok, get back in the car, we'll take care of it."

We all sat in the car, watching the whole thing unfold. Two officers entered the house and left with his moms boyfriend in handcuffs.

His mom watched on the porch as the police officers drove off with her boyfriend.

Another officer came out of the house, Jack following closely behind him.

I'd never seen him looking so bad. He was covered in bruises and he was cradling his arm. His hair was messed up and his face was tear stained.

I quickly jumped out of the cars, ignoring the boys calls, and ran up to the porch.

"Jack!" I yelled as I approached him, catching everyone's attention. "Are you a part of the family?" The officer asked me, stopping me short of Jack who stared at me with sorrow in his eyes.

"No he's my best friend."

"I can't let you see the victim at this time. As far as we are concerned this is a crime scene." The officer informed.

"Please." I cried.

"Just give her a minute." The younger looking officer said. "Fine, one minute." He put his arm down, letting me go.

"Can I hug you?" I said as I stood in front of him. He didn't say anything, just nodded.

"Jack I'm so sorry." I cried as I wrapped my arms around him, careful not to hurt him.

He still didn't say anything, but he wrapped his arms around me, squeezing me with his right arm only. His head was laid on my shoulder and his quiet sobs could be heard.

I didn't know what to say, so I just stood there quietly while he cried on my shoulder.

While we stood there the other boys came over and one of the officers took Jacks mom in handcuffs to the cop car.

No one said anything, they just all stood there sorrowfully.

"Ok, it's time to go." The officer said after a black car pulled up in front of the house.

He grabbed Jacks shoulders and began walking him to the car.

"I love you Jack."
