The next Monday I showed up at school, hoping to see Jack.

I wasn't sure what they did with him. They said him and his sister were taken to child services but that was all I knew.

My fear was that they were gonna send them to live with their dad in New Mexico and I would never get to see him again.

I was honestly terrified that I would never get to see or hear from him again.

I showed up to school a little late so I went straight to class, not even getting to meet up with Jonah or Daniel.

I could hardly focus on my schoolwork, my mind just kept going to Jack.

It was finally lunch time so I slowly made it to mine and the boys usual meet up stop.

As I approached them I noticed a 5th boy. One with curly hair and a black cast on his left arm. It was my Jack.

"Jackie!" I squealed, gathering the attention of students scattered around the area.

He turned to find who had called him and smiled as he saw me running towards him.

I practically jumped in his arms, squeezing him tight, not wanting to let go.

"I thought you weren't gonna come back." I whispered into his shoulder, close to tears.

"Why wouldn't I come back?" He asked, pulling away from the hug.

"I figured you'd be going to live with your dad." I shrugged.

"About that.." he looked down at his feet awkwardly.

"You're going to live with your dad, aren't you?" I gulped, a lump growing in my throat as I tried not to cry.

"He's my closest relative. They've got me and my sister in a foster home to let us finish the couple months left of school, and then they're sending us to our dads."

"But what about all of our plans? How am I supposed to live without you?" I asked, tears slowly falling down my cheeks.

"I'm sorry Skylar. My moms locked up for 4 years, I have no home here."

"You can stay with me." I suggested.

"Not until I'm 18, my dad is my closest relative, I don't have a choice. I'm really sorry Skylar, I never intended for it to be like this." He put his arms out and we both went in for a hug.

The school day was finally over and I couldn't wait to get home. I was tired and worn out and not to mention, I wasn't in the best state after everything that happened with Jack.

"Skylar! Wait up!" I heard Jonah call behind me as I walked to my car in the parking lot.

I stopped and turned around, searching for him in the crowd of students.

"Hey what's up?" I asked as he finally reached me.

"I uh..well I was uh..." he nervously scratched the back of his neck, looking down.

"You don't have to be nervous around me Jonah, just say it." I chuckled.

"O-ok. Would you like to come see a movie with me tonight?" He asked, putting his hand to his side and making eye contact.

"Like, a date?" I asked, tilting my head to the side.

"Yeah, yeah I guess so." He chuckled, beginning to look nervous again.

"I'd love to." I smiled softly.

"Awesome! I'll pick you up at 6:30?" He asked, looking more relaxed.
