Victoire's P.O.V
The Hogwarts Express sped along the train tracks as green hills rolled in and out of my view as we passed them while I absentmindedly ran my fingers over my brand new prefect's badge. Alroy, who was sitting across from me read through the Daily Prophet, an old tradition of his. Darren and Kyra who were sitting across from each other excitedly talked and planned the new pranks they were going to pull, and loudly laughing at the memories of their old ones. Darren and Kyra were made for each other, they were soul mates. The two of them fit like a hand in a glove, a perfect match. Everyone, yes, everyone, was convinced they had secret feelings for each other, but no one knew for sure.
"Could you at least quiet down a little bit?" Alroy asked, a little annoyed.
"Oh pardon me, o high and mighty prefect, what are you gonna do? Give me detention before even reaching school grounds." Darren teased. It was really a bromance/tough-love thing they had going on.
"No, but I wouldn't mind punching you in the face." Alroy replied unexpectedly.
"Oh no! Not the face!" Kyra exclaimed, "If you ruin it, he won't have anything going for him. It's either looks, mind, or the complete package...and we all know he lacks heavily in most of those." She said, insulting him.
Darren grinned mischievously "You find me attractive then?" he asked, ignoring the insult.
"You wish, I'm just taking into consideration of what the heap of ex-girlfriends think of you...I mean, that must be why they liked you." She replied coolly.
"Oh no, trust me, I am the total package. I'm just that awesome." Darren replied, puffing his chest out. Kyra, Alroy, and I all opened our mouths to protest but were interrupted by a head prefect--judging by his badge--poked his head through the cabin door, "They want all the prefects to come to the front of the train." he said and moved on, leaving the door open. Alroy and I stood up and walked out. Before reaching the hall, Alroy tripped over Darren's foot, which had not been there a moment earlier. Alroy gave him a foul gesture with his hand. Darren gasped dramatically, pretending to be hurt while placing a hand over his heart. Alroy just rolled his eyes and signalled for me to go on.
I stepped into a larger cabin, full of prefects both old and new, all were waiting for McGonagall's arrival. It was definitely cramped, so I stood nearby the cabin door, not wanting to trip into the pool of prefects. As I stood there, I heard loud laughing from behind me, and before I had time to move out of the way, a tall boy--or should I say man?--walked straight in, almost knocking me over. His hands gripped my shoulders to steady me and looked me in the eyes. The shadow of his smile was still playing on his lips, but his eyes were wide with a look of apology. "I'm so sorry!" he said as he released me and ran a hand through his electric blue hair. I recognized him as Teddy Tonks, a well known Gryffindor student who was in his seventh year. I remembered seeing him at family reunions or a Christmas spent in the burrow. He had always seemed so much older, and I'm sure he thought I was kiddish even though a mere two years separated us. "Hey, you're Victoire, aren't you? I've seen you around at family reunions and such, right?" He asked me.
All I did was nod stupidly. "All right, well, maybe I'll see you later." he said with a wink and followed his friend. Had I imagined it? Even if I hadn't, it could only have been one of those things people do...forget it...who winks at random people? Teddy obviously. His blue hair bobbed in between the waiting students and eventually disappeared. McGonagall entered and Alroy nudged me in the side and pointed towards her. She smiled at us, but kept her look stern. "There will be a few changes at Hogwarts this year, however I'm not supposed to, and will not tell you what changes exactly. However, I want you all to know that the rules this year are maximized, and I expect extra-careful watching from all of you." She said and continued with the standard rules I expected she repeated every year. "Now, away with you. I want you all to take chances patrolling the corridors until we reach Hogwarts."
