The guest arrive around lunch time for the wedding. The preacher arrives shortly after and they get started on the wedding ceremony. The small crowd gathers inside the barn where everyone is sitting on a hay bail. No one has an issue about the seating, which was a relief.
Jayden and I stand in the back with Bill and Margie. Brandon is on a hay bail with Vicky. Tiffany and Joey stay in uniform and do their jobs.
I haven't had a chance to talk to Jayden about the girlfriend thing that Bill mentioned earlier. I will defiantly ask him when we're are alone.
During the vows, Alexis winces in pain and places her hands over her swollen belly, then takes a deep breath. The preacher instantly stops while Tom reaches for her belly, and whispers to her. I hear a couple of guest gasp and hold in a breath. She nods and smiles at Tom before telling everyone here.
"Baby is just excited, sorry ya'll. I'm fine." she convinces everybody with a smile.
A couple people release their breath, including myself. I glance over to Jayden. He looks me wide eyed and releases his own breath. We both feel relieved and smile.
After the vows, preacher pronounces them as husband and wife, and a round of applause fills the barn.
Soon after, everyone heads outside to eat. Jayden reaches over to take my hand. Sparks shoot up my arm and into my heart. We walk outside to join everyone else. I glance up to the sky to see the gray clouds above us. I silently pray for the rain to hold off until later.
My prayers were apparently answered. Everyone ate outside without any rain drops so far. While Paula, Vicky, Tiffany, and I clear the food away and take the stuff back to the kitchen, Brandon hooks up a laptop to the speaker system. Music fills the inside of the barn. Us four go back inside the barn, after the food was put up.
Tom requests Brandon to play God bless the broken road by Rascal Flatts for their first dance. I watch as Tom slowly strolls over to Alexis, and reaches for her hand.
He smiles lovingly at her as she grabs his hand, then they walk to the middle of the barn. Some of the men has already moved the hay bails out the way for a dance floor.
As they slow dance to the song, as close as they can get to each other, Tom is lip singing to her. She has tears forming in her eyes. The way their gazing at each other, I can feel my own heart melt. That's so romantic for a man to sing along to a song as they dance. Tom is singing along like he means every word to the song. That's the type of love I want.
I have both of my hands clasped together covering my chest, watching the couple when arms wrap around my waist. My breath hitches as I feel Jayden rest his head on my shoulder. He gently places a kiss on my cheek, then begins to make us sway to the music.
But what makes me want to cry is when he begins to whisper the song in my ear. The wedding fades into the background as I listen to Jayden singing to me softly.
"Every long lost dream, led me to where you are, others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars, pointing me on my way into your loving arms, this much I know is true, that God blessed the broken road, that led me straight to you."
He sings the rest of the song while continuing to slowly sway us side to side. I have never experienced this happy feeling in my life. I hear his own truth to the meaning of the song.
How was I just wishing for that to happen to me, and its like he heard my thoughts, and made it happen. I remember telling Vicky this morning I'm falling for him. I can confirm it, it's true.
