they're not just words to me
they're something more
a simple reminder
a love letter
a death sentence
you never know what you're going to get
that when you pick up a book, you're not just getting words
you're getting something more
words can be hurtful
rude and unneeded
they hurt you at your weakest
and aren't there when you need them
my mother once told me
run away from your life
discover something new
reimburse something old
she didn't know
that books were there
for people to read
for things to be said
for memories to be made
my mother once told me
that i need to stop reading
that i was obviously hiding from something
she didn't know
i was hiding from her
