Dinner was uneventful. As usual, I ate in my room. I really don't want to deal with everyone else's problems. I've got to deal with other things. Like Sage. He may be stupid, and annoying, and just really, really foolish, but he's my brother. I'm worried. That night, he didn't come back from dinner like he was supposed to.

I got up and tip-toed to the front of the house where all the dormitory halls met. I saw Sage sneaking towards the basement.

It was dark down there. Sage might be as loud as a bull in a china shop, but I was as quiet as a mouse. No one saw me. Ever. So it wasn't a problem following my meddlesome brother everywhere.

Ashley came down. I growled. I didn't like her. She might be a Water element, but she was all that because she had water bending... powers. Sage fell for anyone under 20 with a good body and generic specialness. I didn't even know her that well! How could he be doing this again?

I watched from the shadows as they started talking. Leaning against the wall, I waited for them to leave so I could talk to Sage by myself. I followed them back up and waited some more. Finally, Sage came out of the Water dormitories. I snuck up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder.

Sage spun around with a karate yell, like that would scare off serial killers. When he saw that it was just me, he hissed out, "Were you there the entire time?"

"Yeah," I said, folding ny arms. "I don't like her yet."

"So you're now the high priest of my love life?"

"No! I'm just trying to keep you safe!"

"It sure looks like it. You're always so uptight and worried, loosen up a bit. We were just talking!"

"That's not what I sensed," I said. With this whole Gemini twin thing, we have a mental connection and whatever. I saw through his mind a kiss. That was all I needed to know.

"You saw that?" Sage paled a little.

"I saw everything," I said. His shoulders slumped. I was about to reach out when I saw something through Sage's mind. There was something dangerous behind me. Looking through my own eyes, I saw more destruction.

"Watch out!" I screamed as I pushed him away from the exploding window. There was a flash of blinding light, and then darkness...

It was gray. Just gray. No uniqueness. No distractions. Just gray. I wandered for what felt like hours. In that gray. Gray. Gray. Gray.
