Chapter 10:
I flopped down in my bed and looked at the ceiling. I listen to the sounds of the little boys play and make dinner, to the birds chirp outside of my window, to the sounds of the older boys practicing instruments. These are the sounds of my world, boys, music, and nature. I let my thoughts wander to James. Would he ever be able to find someone to love him and who he can love back? Is there someone waiting for him? Will someone be able to look past his past and help him move on? Will James ever have a family. The door slammed shut open scaring my questions away from my mind. Startled I sat up and looked at the three boys in front of me.
"Christopher, Colby, Zane what are you guys up to?" I asked as I willed my heart beat to go back to normal. They all climbed into my bed and snuggled up closer.
"We missed you mommy." The twins said, and i giggled. The twins were so cute, they always made my day bright. o
"And..... We really didn't want to clean the living room. Daddy is making everyone clean and we don't wanna." Chris said, and that sent me into a wave of hysterics. Peter came into the room.
."Boys is the living room cleaned?" Peter asked. They boys all looked at each other, and then back to Peter.
"We don't want to daddy!" The boys cried out together and they snuggled up to me. I giggled and held the boys closer to me.
"Boys, its clean up day and you know that you have to help out. I have a surprise for all of you, but the house needs to be clean first." I said. The boys slowly got off the couch and walked out the door. They were happy to get a surprise, but sad they had to clean the house.
"Are you going to tell them about the pirate ship?" Peter asked as he sat down on the bed next to me. I nodded my head, still lost in my thoughts from earlier.
"Don't worry Wynne, things are going to work out, that is my promise to you. I will do everything in my power." Peter said as he pulled me into a hug. I smiled up at him and he gave me a short kiss on the nose.
"EW!" Peter and I turned to see 7 little boys standing at the door. Everyone was covering each other's eyes. I laughed so hard I had tears coming out of my eyes.
"we wanted to tell you we were finished cleaning the house. We all worked together like you taught us mommy" Hunter said as he walked over to the bed and handed Cole over to me. I laid Cole down next to me and snuggled him closer.
"Boys, I think I know what is next..." Peter said giving the boys a smile with an evil glint in his eyes.
"DOG PILE ON MOM!" the boys all yelled and laid over top of Peter and I. The sweet sound of the boys laughter rang throughout the house. I tickled each boy who decided to roll on top of me.
Later that evening when we were eating dinner, I decided to tell the boys about the pirate ship. "boys, do you want to go on a pirate ship?" I asked the boys all eagerly nodded their heads as their smiles grew big. "Captain Hook has invited you to go on his ship tomorrow, so I want you boys to be on your best behavior and remember to use your manners."
I giggled as all of the boys started talking at the same time. Peter, who was feeding Cole, seemed annoyed by this.
"Boys, one at a time please." I said as the chaos slowed down and once again it became silent. The boys all looked around and then slowly continued eating. "I didn't say you couldn't talk just said you needed to do it one at a time."
"Why that ship?" Hunter asked.
"I thought he was the one that took you?" Jacob countered.
"Mom, are we sure this isn't a trap?" Sam sounded scared.
"I think its a wonderful chance to learn something new." Christopher, the one who is always willing to take a risk to learn something new, said.
"We think its an awesome idea and we are happy." The twins said
I sighed and addressed their questions. "That ship because Captain Hook is a good person, remember that, he did take me, but he sent me home and didn't harm me at all, I am positive this isn't a trap. Thank you Chris, Cole and Zane for being happy about this." I said as turned to Peter. He gave me a small smile and turned to the boys.
"Captain Hook isn't a bad person, he was just misunderstood and angry. You boys need to be nice and go tomorrow and behave." Peter said. I watched as the boys took in what Peter said. It hurt a little to know the boys trusted Peter more than they trusted me. I understood though, Peter is the one that saved them from trouble.
As I was putting away the last dish, a little hand tugged on my pants. I turned around and found little Cole standing and tugging on my dress. I looked up to see Peter leaning against the doorway.
"He just stood up and I followed him in here." Peter explained as I leaned down and picked up Cole. He smiled at me and put his thumb in his mouth and curled up in my arms. I gave him a big hug and walked over to Peter.
"Do you think he will grow up?" I asked as Peter kissed Cole on the forehead. We walked together to put Cole in his crib.
"I don't know to be honest. I think I know a way how though, but that is for another night. Goodnight Wynne." Peter said as I walked into my room. I laid in my bed and let my head wander to tomorrow. If Cole is walking, that means tomorrow he is going to get into so much trouble. With that thought I drifted off to sleep.
