We go down the bumpy road until we pull up to an old wood cabin with chipped white paint. We both slowly get out of the car and make our way up the slightly less foggy dirt road, the drive way. The ghostly cabin has a red sign hanging from the side of it. It reads,"Sam's Soda", even though I could barely make it out. With a straight face, I turn to my dad.
"Hey dad..."
He doesn't answer me. I wrinkle my forehead and use my sweatshirt to wipe off the sweat.
"Dad?"
Still nothing. I decide to ask my question out loud.
"Would you mind telling me why we're staying two whole months at a weird cabin in the middle of nowhere?"
He scratches his sweat stained head and looks towards my direction.
"Annika, why don't you go get your stuff from the car. And while your'e at it- grab me a soda from the cooler around back."
I glance at the cabin one last time and agree to getting my dad a soda.
