I felt sleepy laying in the hospital bed. My leg and mind was numb. The pain had eased since I had broken my leg a couple of hours ago.

"Why hello there. I'm Dr. Hammond and I'll be helping you out today."

A white man with a white coat enters the room. He sits down onto an office chair, the ones that spin. He has a clipboard and a pen. He is mostly bald but shows some white and gray hair on the side of his head.

I notice he is missing his hospital badge, but there is a possibility that he left it in his office somewhere so I ignore it.

His dark brown eyes give me the shivers as he looks over my body and quickly at my face.

But he is a doctor and can be trusted for the most part.

Right?

"Hi doctor. This is Annika Roberts. Uh she broke her leg not that long ago and we just thought to take her in so you could have a look. See how bad it is, possibly give us a prescription?"

Jeremy says.

I notice that my own father isn't here as I look up from where Jeremy stands with his hands in his pockets. I smile up at him.

When he notices that I have been looking at him for awhile, he takes his hands out of his pockets and puts them on mine showing a small smile at the corners of his mouth.

"Well miss, you do have a broken leg."

I look back to Dr. Hammond and frown. I remember breaking my arm when I was little and having to wear a cast for about a week.

"She'll be okay right?"

Rick looks at the doctor with a worried expression plastered onto his face.

"Oh she'll be just fine. We get stuff like this all the time. She'll probably have to wear a cast for a week or two."

He says,

Chuckling with the same smile as before. Goosebumps form on my long, thin arms.

"Why don't you guys wait in the waiting  room? It's getting late and I have got it covered from here."

Dr. Hammond says unexpectedly with a wide smile spread across his face. I notice a single crooked tooth on his front line of teeth.

Does this guy ever stop smiling?! It's getting weird..

Jeremy looks down at me. Every one else does the same. But Rick and Ben smile.

"Umm.."

Jeremy looks back and forth between me and the doctor. I don't want them to leave my side until I am completely done with the doctors appointment. But I finally muster up the courage to say,

"I'll be fine."

I smile up at Jeremy.

Please don't go!

I plead to him with my mind.

"Ok. We will be back soon to check on you."

Jeremy says leading everyone out of the room so only the doctor and me are left.

"Now.. I have to make a quick run but I will be back with some medication."

Dr. Hammond leaves the room with a chuckle. I get the chills but for the most part I feel a lot better, now that the doctor is gone.

Seriously, where did he get his license?

I sigh and relax into the cushion of the hospital bed. I fold the thin white blanket over my legs as well. The lights above were blinding so I close my eyes and turn onto my left side. I take another sigh, and soon I am almost fully asleep.

I'm so drowsy that I don't notice Dr. Hammond make his way into the room with a white case and something in his left hand. He slowly creeps up to my left side, with him facing my back.

Before I can turn around to make out what is happening I am stabbed with something sharp on my lower back side.

Everything slowly turns dark as I try to get out of the bed and run far away from this place.

But it's no use-- I can't move or speak at all. I try to think of what could have stabbed me-

I turn my head quickly to catch a fast glimpse of a silver and clear syringe folded tightly into the doctors big, white hands..
