Chapter four:
Awkwardly Embarrassing:
It my last day at home and I planned in spending it with my family. I hadn't spoken to Alyssa for a while. I would probably talk her tomorrow at school.
I woke up a bit earlier this morning to do some packing. I had some clothes in my room at school but I needed more.
As I packed the last of my things in my suitcase, my phone buzzed. I walked over to my white desk, where my phone was located, and sat on the desk chair as I checked my messages.
It was from Alyssa.
From: Alyssa
Hey, H. I know we aren't on good terms but can you meet me at Starbucks pls? It's important.I pondered about it for a few minutes. Maybe I should go meet her. I mean, I wouldn't wanna loose my best friend for real. I only planned on ignoring her for a few days not an eternity. On that note, I typed a quick reply.
To: Alyssa
Hey, Aly. I'm glad you asked. I'll be there at noon? I can't stay long though. Need to spend time with my family.I quickly hit send and got up from the chair to check my check- list of things I needed to bring.
"You have everything, squirt?" I heard Henry say from behind me.
I groaned and said "Henry, I told you to stop calling me that. I'm not a little kid anymore"
"Oh, come on. You know I only call you that because you are like a cute little girl" he cooed pinching my cheek. I swat his hand away.
"I'm not a little girl, Henry'' I whined. He pulled me into a bear hug.
"You know I'll miss you, squirt. I always do" he said.
"I always miss you too, big bro" I said rubbing his back. My siblings were very close and we literally did everything together. But now that Henry and Amanda got married I was always left out of their double dates.
After a while of hugging, Henry pulled away. I looked at his eyes and saw that it was brimmed with tears.
I chuckled."What's so funny?" he asked shooting me a playful glare.
"You're gonna cry?" I asked innocently.
"No, my eyes are sweating. It's normal for a big, strong and intimidating man like myself" he said wiping a rebel tear.
'"Aww, don't cry, big bro. I'll be back in for Winter break. And this time I'll bring my boyfriend" I teased.
Before he could ask any questions I took my phone and my car keys and walked out the door.
I checked the time on my phone. 11:45. I got in my car and drove to Starbucks.
••
I walked into Starbucks fifteen minutes later. It wasn't too full. I looked around for Alyssa but she wasn't their yet.I walked over to a empty booth and sat down. I decided to send Alyssa a quick text to let her know I'm here.
I looked around at the people in the shop. Their was a lady reading a magazine. A man with a man bun texting away while sipping his coffee and a boy about my age reading, I looked closer to see what the title was. And when I saw it I actually wanted face palm right there.
The Fault in our stars.
Upon seeing the name, I decided to check the reader out. He hat jet black hair and a chiseled jaw. He had dark full eyebrows and pink lips. He's like the poster boy for Abercrombie and Fitch. Okay, I don't know if they even have poster boys but if they did he would be one.
Just as I was drooling, Alyssa walked over to me.
"Hey, Harles" she said sitting down. I smiled at her looking away from the Abercrombian.
"Hey, Aly" greeted back. I smiled at her again to let her know her know I'm not angry at her anymore.
"Look, I'm really sorry for going against your wishes but you don't have to worry about it. He wants to meet you. In fact, that's why you're here today. I told him to meet us here" she said with a sheepish smile.
"You did what?!" I whisper screamed.
"He's sitting over by the window. I told him to ignore me when I came so that you wouldn't freak out but you're still freaking out aren't you?"
"Yes, yes I am" I said crossing my arms over my chest."Okay, well you're already here so..." she trailed off turning around.
"Nathan! I told her. You can come over" she hollered across the room. I followed her gaze.
The Abercrombian!!!
"That's Nathaniel?" I gasped.
"I know" she swatted my arm. He walked over and sat next to Alyssa right across from me.
"Oh my god! Harley?" he feigned surprise.
"H-hey. Nathaniel" I stuttered. He gave a toothy smile. I let my jaw fall open. Dayam, this boy is hot.
I heard Aly giggle. The baby dragons in my stomach was asleep for so long and Nathaniel just woke them the hell up.
"You still call me Nathaniel?" he chuckled "You haven't changed at all, princess. Except, you got more beautiful" he gave me another dashing smile.
"No, you're beautiful" I blurted out. I covered my mouth with my hands immediately and gasped.
"It's okay, princess" he smiled rubbing the back of his neck Awkwardly.
"Umm, so I'm gonna go. The sexual tension is suffocating me" Aly said laughing at her own joke.
"Aly, no. Do not leave me here. I'm going to completely embarrass myself. In fact, I think I already have. Right, Nathaniel?" I said looking over at him.
"You're fine, princess" he said with another one of those breath taking smiles.
"See, Nathan will look after you" she smiled and began walking our the shop "See you later, loves" she said waving.
This was going to be horrible. If only I wasn't so Awkwardly Embarrassing.
