All hell was breaking loose--again. Walkers were approaching from every direction as the sirens blared. Beth and Hershel were safe for the moment behind a fence, but the rest of their group was in jeopardy as they were forced to split up while they tried to evade the walkers. Beth stood there in shock for what seemed like an eternity. Mercifully, the sirens stopped. Daryl was back and alive, but where was Maggie? Then they were all transfixed by the sound of a baby crying. Maggie came into view holding the baby while wracked with grief. Beth stared at her and Carl as Rick broke down at the horrible realization that Lori was dead.

Then came the terrible news that they had also lost T-Dog and Carol. Overwhelmed with everything that had happened, Beth focused on the one good thing to come out of the whole situation--the precious little baby. Daryl immediately took to her, too. This surprised her at first until she remembered his dedication in searching for Sophia. He had a well-concealed tender side. Beth supposed that they all had hidden sides to themselves. Different people brought out different emotions in them. Daryl had brought out a wild side to her that she had never known existed before she met him.

Now she was beginning to wonder if they were cursed. It seemed that every time they started getting together, something would happen to tear them apart. Andrew had let loose these walkers on them, and Rick was spiraling out of control with his grief over Lori. They all did the best they could in the meantime by making sure that the baby had formula. Then a stranger showed up with a box of formula and fainted beside the fence. Just as they were figuring out what was going on with her, a miracle happened. Daryl had found Carol alive down in the tombs. They didn't have much time to rejoice before this woman, Michone, revealed that Maggie and Glenn had been taken at gunpoint by a man working for someone in a nearby town. She was going to take the guys there to get them back.

Beth followed Daryl into his cell as he prepared to leave. The others were talking to Rick. Before she could say anything, Daryl spun around and kissed her with all the passion that had been simmering between them for so long.

She didn't bother stating the obvious. He already knew that she wanted him to bring back Maggie and Glenn. "Come back to me," she said, looking into his eyes with all her emotion clearly visible for him to see.

"Stay safe," he said as he grabbed his crossbow and went to join Rick and the others.

It wasn't goodbye. It couldn't be, not with so much left unfinished between them. Rick came back without him, however. Her sister and Glenn had been rescued, but Daryl had left with the one who had taken them in the first place. He had found his brother, Merle, and had decided to part ways with the group. Beth went through the motions of what she felt was her part in contributing to the group, but she felt like a part of her was dying. Carol told her not to judge him too harshly, but Beth felt abandoned by Daryl.

Suddenly, they were under attack as gunfire erupted from outside the fence. They were all scattered around the prison yard as they tried to defend themselves. There was a break in the shooting as a vehicle came crashing through the fence. Then walkers came pouring out of the back as the doors were opened. The men with guns took off and left them to be finished off by the hungry walkers.
