Daryl was irrationally angry with Beth. He had been so numb that he hadn't felt a thing until his desire for her had flared back to life. She had come to offer her sympathy, but he didn't want to talk about Merle. He had been a dick to her, thinking that she would leave him alone. His crude statement had thrown her, and he had seen the fear in her eyes. Apparently, he had underestimated how much she cared about him, because she had still wanted to offer him comfort. It had to be that, because there had been absolutely no seduction on his part.
Even though he hadn't even been aroused at first, Daryl had gone through with the charade, still expecting her to balk. Her only complaint had been about his destruction of her underwear. That move had also been meant to scare her away, but she had remained where she was and allowed him to do what he wanted. That was now a problem, because he didn't want to do anything. He certainly couldn't deliver on his opening statement to her. So, he had decided to distract her by bringing her to orgasm and then sending her on her way.
He had been surprised to feel himself becoming aroused as he pleasured her. By the time she came, he had wanted to throw her down and bury himself deep inside her. So now he was back to where he had started with her on the farm. Daryl knew that it wasn't her fault. She hadn't come there to tempt him again. It was his doing that his passion for her had reignited, but that didn't make him any less frustrated with her. Hoping to clear his head, he had gone on a hunt without telling anyone except Rick.
Now he had returned just as frustrated as when he left, since being away from her had not made him want her any less. In fact, since he had shut down all his other emotions, his lust for Beth seemed to consume him. What he wanted to do to her was now the only thing on his mind. His eyes immediately searched for her as the group welcomed him back. He frowned when he didn't see her and wondered if she was avoiding him.
"Are they back yet?" Hershel made his way over and greeted Daryl when he saw him.
"No, not yet," Rick answered.
"They've been gone a long time," Hershel said.
"You know how it is when women go shopping," Rick joked. "They're probably driving Glenn crazy."
"That lunatic is still out there. What if--"
"Hey," Rick soothed. "They know to be careful. You think Michone is going to let her guard down? They probably just have a big haul. They said they were going to stock up on everything they could."
Daryl didn't like the sound of any of this. "What's going on?"
"Maggie, Glenn, and Beth went on a run with Michone," Rick explained.
"Beth went?" Daryl asked incredulously.
"She became like a wild thing when we tried to stop her," Hershel said. "I've never seen her like that before."
"Yeah, she really laid down the law," Rick said with admiration. "I thought she was going to punch Maggie."
"Where did they go?" Daryl asked.
"They're coming back!" Carl yelled.
They all turned to see the car approaching, and Rick ran to help Carl open the gate.
