Desi POV

So Kendall hasn't talked for the rest of the day yesterday, and won't today either. She won't even play XBox with me. I've tried to talk to her when we're eating breakfast, nothing. She's been walking around with headphones in and ignoring me.

If I get in the pool while she's in, she gets out. Dad has been trying to talk her out of being mad, but it hasn't worked thus far, and at this point I'm getting irritated. She's acting like a brat, and I did her a favor.

6pm rolled around and I heard Dad calling us for dinnertime. I went down, meeting him and Kendall in the kitchen. Except there was no food made. I looked around, confused.

"You and Desi are making dinner." Dad announced dryly. I see what he's doing.

"No I'm not." Kendall snapped. "She can do it by herself, she's good at doing things for other people when they don't want to."

Dad stepped towards her. "Kendall Nova. Do I need to remind you to do what I tell you?"

"But I'm not even good at making food." She whined, making an excuse.

"Well then it's the perfect time to learn. I'm not going to be cooking your food for the rest of your life. Now figure out what you guys are going to make."

Dad said, his tone and body language radiating finality. He took a seat to watch us.

Kendall growled quietly so he wouldn't hear. She turned to me, expecting me to say something. I refused, forcing her to make the decision. When she realized what I was doing, she glared daggers at me and huffed, walking over to the cookbook rack. She flipped it open to a random page and smacked it on the counter.

"That." She pointed to the page. "What is it?" I pressed her.

"Can you not fricking read? Spaghetti?" She rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Whatever." I said, walking to the pantry. We grabbed ingredients in silence, until I couldn't reach the noodles on the top shelf.

I looked hopefully at Dad, who saw me struggling. "Nope. You have a helper. Work as a team."

I sighed and looked at Kendall. "Kendall. Would you mind getting the noodles?"

She resumed opening the pasta sauce. "Yes I would mind."

"Kendall get the noodles. Now." Dad said sharply.

She shouldered past me, and I stumbled away. "Oh my god you're so dramatic."

"Oh my god you're such a b*tch." I mimicked her in a loud voice.

"ENOUGH!" Dad cut in. I ignored him, having enough myself.

"I'M SO SICK OF YOU ACTING LIKE I RUINED YOUR LIFE FOR ENTERING YOU INTO THIS. YOU HAVE A GOOD VOICE, YOU COULD WIN $500 AND I DID YOU A F*CKING FAVOR NOW GET OVER IT!" I yelled. Okay I kind of screamed.

She stepped to me, challenging me. "YOU COULD HAVE ASKED ME BEFORE ENTERING ME WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!" I shoved her away from me, and dad intervened, dragging us to the chairs. He sat us on them hard.

"Shut up and listen to me. The only reason I'm not blistering your a**es right now is because I understand that you're angry, and I don't want you bottling up emotions. You are allowed to be angry. But you are not allowed to swear or get physical. Now Kendall, what's your story? In a normal speaking volume- no yelling."

Kendall exhaled, and started her rant. "She didn't ask me, she just signed me up to the talent show. I'm not even that confident in my singing, and if I do bad everyone could laugh at me, or think I'm stupid for entering when I'm not even that good, or..."

"Okay. Desi's turn." Dad cut in.

"She has a great voice and everyone thinks so. I thought she might like $500, but apparently not. And I didn't expect her to get this mad over something like this." I pursed my lips in irritation.

"Okay, Desi. You need to apologize for entering her into the show without asking. You wouldn't like it if she did that to you."

I hesitated, then gave in. "Okay, it was wrong and I'm sorry. I shouldn't have." The visibly pent up anger dissipated from her face. "Fine."

"Now Kendall, you need to apologize for treating her like crap for two days instead of talking it out when she tried to approach you." Dad told her. She looked like she was going to fight it at first, but conceded, saying, "I'm sorry for treating you like crap for the past two days."

I smiled. "So we're good?" She had a grudging look on her face that turned to a small smile. "Yes, we're good, now turn off the burning hamburger before the house burns down."

Dad let us go. "That's my girls." I jumped up and ran to the stove, scrambling the ground beef that was turning a little too crispy. Oops. The fire alarm went off, making my ears ring. Ouch. Dad ran to fix it, and returned a minute later.

"Maybe I'll stick to the cooking from now on." He said only half joking.

Desi laughed. "I told you we weren't that good at cooking."

"Then how did you cook all that when I came back from Florida? That was amazing!" Dad asked, his face displaying puzzlement.

Desi looked at me. "Time to come clean." I smiled in agreement. "Paul helped us." We said simultaneously.

He put his hands on his hips in disbelief. "Wait, Paul helped you cook all that?"

"Yup." I said, popping the p. "That was way to advanced for us amateurs. We did cut the fruit though, and pour the lemonade powder in water, and sprinkle the toppings on the pizza."

He stood there straight faced, until he slowly broke into a wide grin and broke into a laugh. "Sneaky sneaky. You guys are definitely taking culinary art next year."

We ate dinner and went to wind down with a movie, everything back to normal in the house. But not for long.

Dad's phone started ringing. He paused the movie. "Just a second." He answered the phone, and a female voice on the other line said, "Hey babe! Just wanted to call and say goodnight." He got up and walked out.

Desi and I sat straight up, staring at each other, our twin reactions proving that someone indeed called him 'babe'. WTF? I whispered in shock.

Dad finished the very quick phone call and tried to casually resume the movie, sitting down. "Oh nuhnuhno." Desi snatched the remote from him.

"Who is this bi....person calling you babe?"

***DUH DUH DUHHHHHNNN........It's about to go down. Lol. Comment and let me know how you feel about this! And vote!

Also, should I do less spanking or keep it how it is? Because I feel like my characters are constantly in trouble, and I get bored with writing spanking scenes, I feel like I do a bad job lol. But I definitely add my attitude and the girls say things I would say in real life, and in Axel's house that ish don't fly so I have to get them in trouble. Oops. 😭😭 But same amount of spanking or less? Lemme know!
