~ Laura's POV ~
I was upstairs in the big room playing my guitar. I keep thinking of my picture and how I might never see it again. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard the door downstairs close. I got up, grabbed my crutches and went downstairs. I saw Ross with this other girl. "Um who is that?" I asked when I reached the bottom of the steps. "This is Maia I meet her at the mall" Ross said. Maia smiled to me and I smiled back. "I'm gonna go get us something to drink" Ross said running towards the kitchen. "Hey I'm Laura" I said. Maia glared at me and I gave her a confused look. She walked up to me and pushed me down on my broken ankle. "You better stay out of my way and you better stay away from Ross!" she said. I had tears rolling down my face and I heard footsteps. They were Ross' and when he got back he asked me why I was on the floor. "Oh I'm just clumsy me!" I said holding back tears. He just nodded and him and Maia left the room.
~ Ross' POV ~
Me and Maia were in the living room talking. "So what are we gonna do for tonight?" she asked me. I smirked and said, "You'll see" She sighed and nodded making me laugh a little. Me and Maia are a couple I guess you could say. I remember Laura on the floor. "Hey do you know how Laura fell?" I asked her. She shook her head no. "Oh well ok" I said. "Ross is there something going on between yall?" she asked me. My eyes widened. "No! We hate each other" I said immediately. She gave me a confused look and asked, "Then why are yall in a castle together? Alone?" I told her that our families went on a trip and that Laura and I couldn't go.
- LATER THAT NIGHT -
I was in my room getting ready when someone knocked on my door. It was Laura. "Why are you getting all fancied up?" she asked me. "I'm going to take Maia on a date" I said. She looked upset when I said that. I wonder why. "Where are yall going?" she asked. "Ballroom. You can come if you want but stay out of our way" I said. She laughed a little and said she would come. When I got ready I went to pick up Maia. Laura went ahead and went to the ballroom.
Maia and I finally got to the ballroom when Maia asked why Laura was there. "Oh since she has a broken ankle she didn't want to be alone" I said. Laura nodded but she didn't look at Maia. I went and started the music. "This is my favorite song!" Maia said walking closer to me. I smiled and said, "Mine too!" It was 'Counting Stars' by OneRepublic. Maia and I started dancing and Laura went to our secret spot. I felt kinda bad that she lost that picture. I knew how important it was to her.
~ Laura's POV ~
I was in our secret spot just sitting there. I got bored and called Raini. "Hello?" Raini said into the phone. "Hey Raini!" I said. "Oh hey Laura! Whats up?" she asked me. I told her I was just at our secret spot hanging out. "Can I tell you something? But you have to promise to keep it a secret" I said. "I promise" Raini said. I smiled and took a deep breath. "I like Ross" I said. I could imagine Raini's mouth dropping wide open "You like Ross? The one you used to fight with 24/7?" She asked. "Yea that one" I said. She told me I should tell him but I told her he had a girlfriend. "That must stink" Raini said. "It does" I said. "I gotta go talk to you later" Raini said. "Bye" I said and hung up the phone. I was a little thirsty so I went to get me some punch. It was hard to make it while I was in crutches but I did it. It was really really hard to carry it though. I started to walk back to the secret spot when I bumped into someone. It was Maia and my punch was all over her. She looked angry and so did Ross.
"Laura! What the heck?!" Ross said in an angry voice. "I'm sorry it was an accident" I said. Maia rolled her eyes and so did Ross. "Sureee it was" Ross said. "It was I promise!" I said. Ross just rolled his eyes again. I was holding back my tears but I don't know how much longer I can hold them back. "Whatever! But just so you know Marano" he started, "I hate you and I always will!" he finished. That's it here comes the tears. "Well I really like you!" I said yelling. When I said that Ross' mouth dropped wide open and he looked guilty. I turned around and went back to the secret spot. I didn't look back at Ross or Maia. I was hurt! Why would Ross say that anyway! I mean I know he didn't know I liked him but why would he say that!?
