Ok, so much has happened today and last night that I need to write it all before I forget any of it. Lets start with yesterday.
I did everything as planned which in of itself was a miracle. I didn't think anything would go so smoothly. It wasn't until the end of the night that things started to look very, interesting. I pulled up to her house and got out as swiftly as I could to let her out of her side of the car. I must have used some of my wolf speed subconsciously because as I was starting to open her door, she was just turning to the drivers side to make a comment of some sort. She looked alarmed for a moment before seeing me at her side already waiting like a gentleman.
She shook her head at me with a smile creeping on her lips. "It has been about 3 months and I still can't get used to how badly you out match me at everything." Before I became a werewolf, we would compete at everything, our speed, our strength, our intelligence, even our abilities at board games. And while she can still beat me in 2 of those 4 areas, she chooses not to rub my nose in it like she usually would. I definitely would, if the roles were reversed, I'd be trying to find every advantage I could get, but I digress.
"Oh come on, I can think of a few things you are still better then me at."
"That is definitely true, I am still better then you at school work and chess." And now she rubbed my nose in it. I should really have checked myself before saying something, I was finally starting to feel superior. Guess I'll never truly know the feeling with her around, and you know what? I don't mind at all.
"Ow, my poor heart! How will I ever find the strength to live on? Oh the humanity" I clutched my chest and and feigned at feeling weak.
"Hmm, you need strength do you? Maybe we can start with this." She leaned into me, softly cupped my cheeks, and planted a kiss on my mouth. We stood there for a good 30 seconds before breaking apart. I grinned at her.
"My my, if I had known you would do that every time I became weak, I would work at it more often around you."
"Don't get too carried away, there is a limit to how much I can stand your breath." She pinched her nose with her fingers but kept a big grin on her face.
"Now that is just rude. It's not my fault I smell like a wet dog every time I get out of the shower. Now you gotta make fun of my breath too? You are one cruel woman, and I love it." It was at this moment. In the midst of our joking that I felt it. That small tingle on the back of your neck is like a natural stalker alarm, and right now it was throwing red lights my way. So what did I do? I ignored it.
None of my senses showed anything weird in the surrounding area. I would have smelt an incoming werewolf miles away but right then, there was no strange smells, I would have heard the steps of a stalker long before he got anywhere near us, yet there is no noise at all. Everything seemed fine with the area but the feeling kept nagging me.
"Hey, I have to run and do something important tonight. Get a good nights sleep and stay safe." She looked kind of disappointed but accepted my leave.
"See you tomorrow in school then." She headed up to her house.
"Hey, do me a favor and make sure all your doors are locked." Stacy looked back at me with a questioning look. "Any particular reason why?"
"Naw, just this feeling I have. From what I can tell, there is nothing around but I just want to make sure." She gave a big smile at me. "Aw, you are scared for me, it's adorable."
"Please, just amuse me."
"Fine little scared-y pants. Might I remind you that I was always a better fighter then you were?" That is true. We both trained in very similar martial arts together and she was always the faster learner. I think the only time we differed in fighting was when she chose to join Akido and I thought Jujitsu was the better of the two.
For those who don't know, Aikido and Jujitsu are very similar in which they both consist of joint locks and throwing and pinning. The difference however is that Jujitsu is meant to end a fight with very little energy as possible and using your opponents weight against them. In Aikido, more energy is used because the discipline not only focuses on the good health of yourself but also of your assailant. It's basically meant to end a fight and you both leave unhurt but you come out exhausted cause you were restraining yourself more then necessary, I believe Jujitsu can have the same principles but with more defining attacks.
Anyways I got sidetracked.
"While that is good and all, you should still stay as safe as possible."
"Fine, Ill leave everything locked, down to the doors in my house."
"Thank you."
"Whatever, see you tomorrow" She disappeared inside the house, I didn't leave until I heard the click of a lock.
I got to my car and started to climb in until i saw from just outside my peripheral vision, a man standing on a patch of dirt. I whirled around to face him but no man stood there. I am going crazy, I told myself until I went over to where I saw him and saw very clear imprints of shoes in the dirt. I drove as fast as I could home and ditched the car. I ran back to Stacy's house in my wolf form and searched for a good hour up to 3 miles around her house. Once I was satisfied that nothing looked out of the ordinary, I came back home and slept.
I woke up this morning and left to search the area of the murder that had happened the night before. Luckily no police had been there so I took my time snooping around. It wasn't far from the school and I had about an hour before I had to be in class so I was OK. I started circling the area but couldn't find any traces of weird smells or broken branches or anything to support that there had been a struggle. Something seemed off.
The problem was that I had circled the area 3 times before I noticed what was bugging me about the area. My initial assessment of there being no smell had to be wrong. I whiffed the air again and making sure that my wolf smell was activated before I concluded that there was absolutely no smell. Blood is supposed to stink up the place for at least a few days and is noticeable to a wolf like myself for up to weeks after that.
But there is no stench of blood or rotting meat like a corpse should have. What the Hell is happening in this town?
I am currently writing this while in my bed at home. It is 9:25 PM and I'm starting to feel tired. But questions are hounding my mind. I don't know if something is wrong with me but if there is, then how am I supposed to protect my town if I can't keep my abilities from fading? The rest of the day went by in a blur. I spoke to Stacy some and told her about my concerns and she keeps insisting that I am OK. We even tested it by making me answer questions about the smells and sounds around the school from the inside of a closed closet. I got a perfect score.
But if it isn't my powers fading, then how is it possible to kill a human like that? I think I'll sleep on it and tell you my thoughts when I come up with a theory. Mason out.
