I can't figure it out. Why, Mason, Why? Why would you save me just to throw me to the side? Why am I standing outside your house knowing how our last conversation went? Why am I bothering bringing your stuff in a box that you left at my place instead of selling them to the nearest person? Guess we won't know until today is over. I move my hand to knock on the door when there is a small sound made intentionally. The sound of someone clearing his throat. I turn around and see Adrian standing behind me. He has a nervous little smile on his face.

"Um, Hi. I didn't think you would be back here." Adrian looked kind of sheepish doing his best not to sound rude, I honestly wouldn't mind if he was.

"I was just going to drop by and give him his stuff that he had left in my house." God, I can't even say his name anymore. Adrian looked satisfied at that and tilted his head a little. Shock and surprise go through his face.

"He isn't home." I almost asked how he knew this before I remembered what he was. But why the shocked expression?

"Oh ok, um, well I guess I can come back later then." He looked around sniffing the air and listening. This really is putting me on edge.

"That doesn't make sense, I can't hear him nearby but the scent....."

"Do you know when he might be back or where he is?"

"Well, he was at my place before we moved him here at his request." He said this absent mindedly trying to locate his location or where he went. "But I don't know where he is now, with his injuries he couldn't have gotten far and on top of that his scent doesn't leave the house."

"Wait weren't you watching the house and that's how you snuck up on me? How did he sneak past you if he was injured? How did he even get injured?" He looked at me incredulously.

"You didn't know? In the last battle to save you Mason was almost killed by the bites of many newborn vampires. I was coming by to visit him and see if he was healed. His outside wounds were healed but the newborns and extent the vampires were poisonous......" He stopped in his tracks and looked up to the house. His face went from puzzlement to panic "no no no no no"

"Whats wrong?" Before I can manage to get the last word out he forces the door open almost ripping it off its hinges and rushes into the house. I try to run in after him and am surprised when he stops in his tracks covering the doorway to Mason's bedroom. His body starts shaking.

"Adrian talk to me, let me through, what is wrong?" Instead of moving however he decided to whisper.

"You knew. You knew what would happen soon so you had us bring you here." He moves towards the bed and I finally am able to get through and almost lose my footing when I see the view before me. My knees begin to shake, I drop the box in my hands and instead bring them up to my mouth.

"Your heartbeat, its so quiet, I couldn't hear it from outside." He moved slowly to the side of the bed almost as if he was afraid he'd frighten him.

I force myself to walk to the foot of his bed to take a closer look. His hair had turned from his black to a dark grayish color, his skin was almost transparent, being this close I could feel the heat rise out of him, taking shallow breaths as if his next one could be his last. His arms looked almost green, and it looked like whatever had healed, came back to scar his body. Even the wounds from his fight with Jax were back.

Tears start to trail down my face. I notice he had his diary with him and he was on the last page. I read the headline and almost fainted "My Will" It read. He had expected to die and by the looks of it he had his will on hand with his signature to verify it. I was stunned when the body moved a tiny fraction and I saw that what I had mistaken for a corpse is actually very nearly dead. Mason started to gulp in air and releasing it and I realized that he was trying to form words. It took him almost 2 minutes to get them out into a sentence.

"Hello my friends. Thank you so much. Goodnight." And with that I fell to my knees bawling. The man on the bed stopped breathing, the wolf next to him clenched his eyes shut.

The mighty Mason Janus is dead.
