2 days since I met half of the twins. I haven't met the other half yet so I don't know what to think about that but having someone that I can relate with is very relieving. Stacy tries, I know she does, to help me any way she can but to actually experience what I am and to try to be empathetic to it are two completely different beasts. Yesterday was spent in a very educational way. Adrian and I went off on a kind of competition with Stacy as our referee for the sole purpose of finding out how differently one wolf can vary from another. It was kind of fun actually.
The final results were this: Adrian is far faster, and more agile then me. But I can over power him as well as mentally process quicker, and am an overall better fighter due to my experiences.
"So now that we got this settled, when do I get to meet your brother?" I love hanging out with Adrian, I'm hoping his brother is the same way.
"Ya, meeting a third wolf could be exciting." Stacy, ever the adventure seeker.
"Well, here is the thing. ever since he became a wolf, he has been a little secluded. Only ever comes out when he absolutely needs to and treats everyone with distaste. I truly hope you don't get to meet him." Interesting. If he is that way, then I guess I'd better steer clear.
"That's too bad. Guess it is better this way then." I hear something. Barely a snap of a branch but where we are, I shouldn't have been taken by surprise. One look at Adrian and I can tell he is thinking the same way. His look of absolute shock covers his face.
"Stacy, get in the car." We were leaning on the car to begin with but now I am opening the door and have an expression on my face that shows none of the joking around that it usually has.
"What's wrong?" She hesitates to do as I plead of her.
Another branch breaks but this time close enough that even Stacy can hear it. Realization dawns on her that these footsteps might be that has us all worried. She gets in.
"You stay with her and don't let her out of your sight." I tell Adrian. He looks almost frightened but obediently positions himself near a tree where he can see her and the area around it without too much movement.
I slowly walk a couple yards away and take a quick peek at the clear field like area where the car is parked. Stacy is inside, she looks confidently at me before scanning the edges of the field.
I circle the perimeter of the field a few times and extend it by a few yards each time. I see absolutely nothing. No more noises, no scents, not even a few spooked animals. I head back to the car. I'm within 300 yards before I begin to panic. I can only hear one heart beat. I rush towards the car and see Adrian slumped against the car. his head was cracked open but other then the opening in his head, he is alive. But looking inside the car puts me into a panic attack.
"STACY!!!!!"
Stacy isn't there. Somehow, someone got the jump on a wolf, managed to incapacitate him in what i'm assuming as a single blow since i would've heard him trying to fight someone. And then take Stacy before she could make a noise. This isn't human.
Hell, its not even wolf. something new is here and I want to find out what it is. But I need to find Stacy ASAP.
I carry Adrian into my car. lot of good that did Stacy but if he was left here, it was because they didn't want him. I shift into my wolf and run like never before. I search everywhere I can. There is no clue as to where Stacy has gone. I'm running past an intersection until I notice her scent. I shift back into human and follow it. The scent leads me to my house.
I burst through the door and follow the scent to my room. On the bed is a mannequin. Stacy is written across its forehead. and an envelope attached by tape on its side. This whole thing was orchestrated. Someone planned this in advance.
I rip the envelope off and open it. Inside is a letter. This is what it reads.
'Dear Mason.
We are aware of what you are. We are aware of what you are capable of and who your friends are. You probably don't know what we are so I am gonna make this interesting. I want to play a game. Ever heard of the fairy tale of Rumpelstiltskin? Where a woman makes a deal with a rather mystical man, where she will eventually trade her first born child for him to make her gold out of straw? Where to get out of the deal she must guess the man's name? Well I want to play something like that except for a few new rules. I want you to guess what we are, but that's not it. you see, we are 3 people from your school. I want you to guess which 3 we are. For every answer you get right, you'll be rewarded. For every answer you get wrong, well you won't want to know the consequences. Input your answers in the library, inside of the book of which I have put there. You'll know it as soon as you see it. Now that everything is settled, let the games begin.'
I'm boiling. These sick bastards want to play a game with lives that are not their own on the line. It's also a guessing game so I have been handed the tools for failure.
Unless.
I've encountered these people before but always thought they were a figment of my imagination. I could never hear them and could only catch glimpses of them but without a doubt, it was them. Their own abilities will be their downfall. I can win this. I will win this. They chose the wrong wolf to mess with. Mason out.
