aaaa i know it's short but i realized that i haven't updated this in forever and i feel guilty so here's a chapter :"

Rikka tried closing her eyes, an small annoyed huff leaving her lips as she opened her eyes again and idly stared at the ceiling. She had been having nightmares- nightmares that Ryuu would somehow come back and hurt her and the others again like he had done before. She couldn't help but blame herself, as if she had just defended herself in the first place she wouldn't have the scar on the side of her face and she would be sleeping soundly. Hell, if she had just done something she would have been able to help Korra and the group when the spirits from the spirit world started acting up.

She lifted a hand, pressing her fingertips against the scar idly. This was what she was now- there was no way to get away from her past. After all, the proof of the past event was etched into her skin.

It had been months since the Amon incident, and all of the benders whom had gotten their bending taken away had gotten their lives back. A gift, from the past avatar named Aang.

A lot of things had changed for the group- The fire ferrets resigning from their job as fighters, and Mako becoming a officer under Lin's command. The brunette could remember the excitement Mako had held when he came and told everyone how close he was to becoming a detective.

Despite all this, Rikka wasn't one to change that easily. The young earth bender never did- a habit that grew after her father had left her behind with her grandmother. She looked too much like her mother, she supposed. The only change she had welcomed into her life with a smile was moving in with the airbenders.

The wound that Ryuu had caused had long since healed over and healed.

Rikka clicked her tongue in annoyance at the thought of the boy.

Rikka sighed, sitting up and picking up her newest knives, examining the blade. The knife that her grandmother had given her was lost, and since then, Korra had given her the knife in an attempt to quench her grief. Rikka appreciated it, though even so, she was still upset that her fathers possession was ripped so easily away from her.

The earth bender hesitantly got up from her bed, deciding that it was time to face the people she had dreaded seeing. Though as soon as she stood up a flashback came to her mind, invisible fire blasting in her face for the second, dreaded time. She fell back, slamming her head against the bedpost rather harshly, the earthbender letting a yell of pain slip past her lips. Although as soon as it came she covered her mouth with her wrist, muffling her own cries.

She didn't want this. No, she wanted everything to be fine again, she didn't want sleepless nights and quiet sobs she wanted to be the strong earthbender her grandmother had taught her to be.

Rikka bit down on her hand now, not caring about the beads of blood that had appeared, blood now trailing down her hand and landing on the wooden floor. Tears had started streaming down her face, as well, the earthbender no longer calm. Her chest was heaving, the earthbender having would have been hyperventilating if she hadn't bitten down onto her hand.

It didn't take long for Rikka to fall asleep after that, simply having passed out from not being able to breathe.
