The small picture window of the apartment overlooked the streets of a humble neighborhood. The afternoons were noisier because of the horde of children who took advantage of the sunset to go out and play. Despite how small it was, the apartment seemed perfect to the owner, as it was near the center and therefore near the graphic studio where she worked. Even though it had been difficult to move to the big city from the small town where she was from, it had been fortunate for her to get into college and unexpectedly enter the most exclusive circle of the institution, thanks to her unpredicted friendship with Veronica Monte Negro.
While she was preparing the two cups of pink tea, she shouted to her guest to ask whether she preferred sugar or sweetener. Seeing that she did not receive any answer, she approached the living room and awoke her from her trance.
"Listen! I'm talking to you. Sugar or sweetener?"
"Yes."
"Yes, what?"
"What were you saying?"
"Wow! Yes, he left. You touched that moron."
"Don't talk nonsense. And the tea?"
Veronica ignored Rosa's joke, but somehow, she understood it. Rosa had spent the whole week enduring her constant complaints about the mysterious indecent guy she met in her father's office.
The youngest of the Monte Negros desperately wanted to be able to erase Mr. Alejandro Baeza's image. At first, Veronica could ignore his presence and showed her disagreement when she saw him looking at her in such an inappropriate way. Despite having evaded the intensity of his bright eyes, with which he seemed to see inside her, everything changed when he got up and flaunted all his overwhelming appeal as well as that dominant attitude that seemed to shout, "At your place or at mine?"
Any little movement, like the mere act of loosening his tie, further fueled the fire that seemed to have ignited inside the offended. The situation didn't improve when he approached and she could smell his fragrance. Veronica could see that even his custom-made suit could hardly hide his incredible arms and chest. The half-smile he gave her matched perfectly with the stubble that covered his fascinating chin.
The girl had to use her inner strength to resist his bold approach. She couldn't show him how impressed she was on that first meeting and let him see what he had awakened in her. Even though, he seemed to know it.
"Earth calling, Veronica!" shouted Rosa, as she set the tea cups on the table.
"Very funny," said Veronica, once she had recovered from the scare Rosa had given her.
"You're the one who's stunned by that horrible, horrible, horrible man."
"But, it's true! You should have been there. He was walking around my father's office, like he was the owner. That indecent guy was looking at me, like he could see me naked. Pervert!"
"Well then, it's good that you possibly won't see him anymore. If your father's company starts to take off, you will end up meeting him once or twice a year. And your father is the one who will have to go through that terrible situation."
"I hope so because I don't want to meet him ever again."
"Changing the subject, do you have the perfume thing ready?"
"What perfume? Oh yeah! The perfume. No. With all this mess, I couldn't focus."
"I came up with some designs for marketing. If you want, I can..."
"Oh! And that macho style?" she rudely interrupted her friend.
"I see you're not interested in talking about work."
